I must sadly confess… I’m guilty of this as well. Bought the Taco on 4-20-20 and have 12,500 on the clock. She’s my weekend toy. The 98’ 4cyl Camry handles my daily commute needs… and she only has 134k

Was at Costco yesterday and I didn't notice any more tasting stations than usual... lol. They were sampling some cheese though. I did not partake.

Yeah - we'll be taking the train in; looking to arrive along the parade route by about 8, 8:30; I really want to get some firework shots over some of the monuments if I can - but we have a hotel booked so we don't have to get home stupidly late.

    :D Tracking-all.

That sux, but thank you for keeping us law abidin', God fearin' citizens safe nevertheless.

I am pretty sure we all pissed 4Loco on that parking lot at least once.
    :hattip:

    Don't encourage him John. :annoyed:

I am so confused right now. Lady-Pal? WTF is a Lady-Pal? Ahhh, please don't tell me that is code for like Rosie O'Palmer or Pamala Handerson? And sorry but you lost me right at DC......
They likely have a great fireworks show, but so does any major city, and this year a lot of other places previously shut down because of the pandemic will be hosting again. I mean you're from Detroit so DC is tame comparatively speaking, from what I see on tv. Maybe about the same here recently tho.

I say be very careful, and make sure your head is on a swivel. Definitely make sure you stand in a place people typically drop things like [wink wink] mace. A can of that would come in handy if you needed it. [wink wink]
    :laser:

You know, If your "Lady-Pal" is adamant about going that is. But I say go, have fun, be safe! Take some pics, post them up.

    This ^^^ and why....

Been here in Maryland (minus when we lived in Va, and Hi.) since 62' and never been to DC for the 4th once. Naturally, DC is seeming different in the daytime and we have been plenty of times.

But, in general, we've only been to the fireworks display in Baltimore City once or twice, but we were much much younger.

Funny, yet typical, story.......we went and we were sitting on the hill at Federal Hill, and everyone was facing the same way. We had gotten there early and got a great spot. As it got dark, the wind changed direction and they had to move the barge. Now we were all looking the wrong way. After everyone shifted, we were then in the back. Obla Dee Obla Daa :tumbleweed:

DC would be the last place I would go, especially on the 4th, to stand in throngs of people looking up, distracted. But that's just me and my own paranoia. It's not that I don't trust DC or it's residents/visitors, it's that I don't trust anyone anywhere. :spy: I'm constantly looking for the armed version of someone like me. :burp:

I really enjoyed the fireworks in Ocean City, Md. One year we had a canal front rental place in Montego Bay, with a huge deck. It overlooked the bay behind the park that they set off fireworks at. We had an unobstructed view, got steamed crabs, had like 20 people over. It was fantastic. The reflection of the fireworks on the still water was magnificent. :cookiemonster:

Wasn't there a movie a long time ago called Wrong Turn, with Emilio Estevez? Man I never go anywhere without something. I always have at least one EDC blade. But living in the country and having a cap, there's no telling what kind of yard tools I have back there. Axe's, pitch forks, firewood, tarps, duct tape, ......oh wait, that's the van, not the truck.

You too Mike! Be safe with the kiddo's!

    And Challenge accepted!

‘Security on the Potomac was not a issue. The park service had a Blackhawk patrolling the river. The real danger was the drunks in their motor boats while we paddled home (in the dark). Yes 3 knots is my nominal padding speed. 4 knots with afterburner

What about snakeheads? I would not want to be that close to the water if snakeheads were nearby. :boink:

    Especially if you're me!

I wonder if on a windy day you could up a sail? Because hey, how can I paddle with water sodas?

That's the best looking Camry I've ever seen, including ours! Love the wheels! Also love no tint at all!

‘The sharks wasn’t so scary. Feeding the rays was something. We were mobbed by slimy sandpaper creatures with 3-4 foot wingspan. Had to tread water the whole time. Couldn’t put your feet down. Kept thinking Steve Irwin, Steve Irwin.

Being in water scares a lot of people. Me I am flat out frightened. Sharks would just see me a big ol' fat bento box and from miles away.

We saw some nurse sharks in Mexico once. Very cool. Especially from over 30' away on the bottom. We saw barracuda too. The freaking parrotfish were more of a danger than anything.

I've been around water since I was 7, in Hawaii. My Dad being the Marine he was just took us to the base pool while we were still in Little Creek, stood us by the deep end, showed us other people swimming, and tossed us in. We could swim by then but it was still sketchy. We use to tag along fishing down Miller's Island way before then. We had no choice. So we would get in the water. And we had pools in our back yard as small kids too. In rowhouses, most all the houses with kids had one.

But yea, cloudy, murky, brackish water freaks me out. Hell, even OC freaks me out sometimes. I have seen the pics of sharks down there. I've seen dolphins from the balconies but never sharks.

Perfect, that means it's gonna do the same here. Cool us off then heat us tf up! We close the curtains in the living room every day and hope the clouds come out. Otherwise we get full sun until it sets. I don't know what asshat chopped down the shade trees that were in the front yard :anonymous:
