thanks guys, I do like the tekton stuff, didn’t even think of them. I went with some random one and it’s hit or miss. I tested with my 5NM key and it works but beyond that it just doesn’t stop every time…I just can’t trust it. Snapped a screw for the direct mount chain ring on my new crank arms

 

Dang, sorry to see that. Warranty and negligence are two different things. Depends how aggressive the insurance co wants to get which likely will be determined by how pricey the repair ends up being. Good luck man.

 

I saw that too... I absolutely love my 36 with the PUSH ACS3 in it, but would give the Zeb a try at that price. Alas, it was out of stock by the time I made up my mind.

Dude, that sucks. Homes are expensive as shit, and a time suck. We just bought our new (to us) home three months ago now, and it's just constant... Currently it's landscaping and sprinklers, but we need to paint the outside, and inside.
That combined with the 8 mo. old, and my accounts and time have never looked so tight.

You've probably already heard it but the park tools one is really nice. The adjustment on it is nicer than any other I've owned and it has held up better than the tekton one I have at work

 

I’m doing it similar to you. OOS was the only remaining option when I finally remembered to sign up with a transport service. So they’ll carry my tent and everything from town to town and the initial ride across the state.
The weather in Sgt. Bluff looks brutal. The next 10 days shows a few in the 100* mark. I don’t like my odds of it cooling down there in the next 3 weeks either lol
So beer and ice cream will be mandatory hahah. otherwise sounds fun.

 

Speaking of that…I need a new 1/2” torque wrench. My craftsman handle w the port showing the value is loose, making it difficult to know what number I’m really on. Twist or raise/lower the handle and I could be at one of 5 different values without actually changing it lol

 

The Park Tool wrench is well worth the money. I use it and a Effeto Mariposa torque wrench but use the Park wrench most often.

Whoa! Make sure you do a mold check while everything is torn down.

 

Every pool I ever tried on a skateboard. First time was magic and the second time I crashed and burned.

 

I put some slightly larger ape hangers on this bike to see how I would like it. I like it but I just don’t like the gooseneck on this bike.

So here’s a pic of a mongoose and a brown turd.

I also found a more adult sized saddle.


But I could not ride it comfortably until I reversed the gooseneck.

The coxcombing on the downtube & on the seat post is partly just for decoration, but also in case I have to tie some thing to the bike in an emergency. The one on the downtube seals the hole where the cable runs through the frame, secures the cable, and prevents the forks from banging into the bike.

With those forks you get these two huge ugly rubber bumpers that go on the fork tubes, and they are the most god awful clunky heavy black ugly boogers you could ever put on a bicycle.

I scored a heavy duty Schwinn bicycle rack for my receiver hitch. I got it for free, because a dog had chewed up the plastic straps.

This thing is heavy welded steel construction and I can’t imagine putting four bikes on this thing and hanging it on the back of a small car.

With a little cleanup and some bungee cords, I can be on the road.

 

The advice on Q1 is good, especially taking Flume south and then heading back on TRT. Another good route if you happen to be on the west side of the lake is up Stanford Rock trail which TAMBA has been rebuilding, and then down Ward Canyon TRT. There are a few other trail segments you can add on depending how you're feeling. If you like tech XMas Valley is an awesome trail in SLT. A good loop on that one is to climb up TRT toward Toads, then up the highway a little, Scotts Lake Connector/Trail, up TRT, down Xmas Valley. Lots of loop options you can do using TRT, Toads, Armstrong and other trails below Star Lake.

I wouldn't expect to find any available camping in the Lake Tahoe basin at all nevermind dispersed camping. Tahoe has always been bad but is a complete and utter shit show now from May til September, and not just on weekends. Maybe you can luck out and find some walk up camping but I wouldn't count on it. Once you leave the basin you don't have to go far before you can start finding dispersed spots. Traffic around the lake can be horrific. I saw miles long back ups a couple weeks ago. Fortunately not the direction I was going. It's construction season on top of the tourist clusterF.

Sorry to hear about that. I'd spend some time researching consumer protection laws for construction defects in your state. As someone else mentioned a warranty item is completely different from a construction defect or negligence. The latter often have more protections and a much longer period for recourse against the builder. It is a pretty big deal when there is water incursion because that can lead to mold and serious health issues.
