Depends. Higher acidity foods last longer. Bacteria does not like acidity. If seal is not broken, and can is not bulged, food should be OK.
If it was sealed, and it popped, it means that either seal was broken or food went bad, created gas and popped the lid.

I have never seen pawpaws in stores. They are ripe when they have black spots Maybe that's why.

Does anybody here use rain barrels? Everything I've been growing definitely seems to prefer rain water over my town's treated water.
I ordered a barrel online and am planning on hanging gutters on the garage to feed into it. The back corner is right near the garden.
Any tips or tricks? I guess my biggest concern would be possibly breeding mosquitoes in the backyard.

Never had Chile Relleno before. A quick Google check, It doesn't seem to stomach friendly.

The only Mexican restaurant locally to me is Chipotle. The good Mexican restaurant are 1 1/2 hours plus away.

I believe my sister throw them away after the 2nd or 3rd time of use. Think she wash good good then reuse.

I collect 5500 gallons of rain water.
This is one of the downspouts. You cannot see the third barrel, it is behind the fig tree.
Put a mosquito screen on the water intake to keep bugs and leaves out. Just cleaned iy every 2 weeks.
PS city water has chlorine and fluoride in it, that's why plants do not like it. It is OK for trees and shrubs, not so for the veggies.

Yes. And tomato based preserves, like salsa and spaghetti sauce. Tomatoes are acidic.

Does tomatoes goes bad being jarred? Like in chunky tomatoes sauce. I had jar chunky tomato sauce and the tomatoes was still firm, not soft and squishy.

prob wont see any till sept oct. I think thats when they are in season if you see any.

as with anything if its canned correctly it should be fine. If the seal is broken or sealed wrong the lid will be popped and food is most likely spoiled and not safe to eat.

    they are mild typically

I try going to the farmers market a couple times per season. The next time I go I'll ask around.

I was surprised that they had Durian there. I ran right by it.

I usually don't eat any can goods 1 year pass the expiration date. My stomach is sensitive.

I opened a can of green beans 10 years pass the expiration date. It look good, no foul smell, then in the trash. I open cream of mushroom 5 years pass the expiration date. Let just say it wasn't white no more.

I'm not brave enough to try, but my younger sister has a cast iron stomach that nothing phase.

My eyes water like no tomorrow trying a habanero pepper.

In the container on the left? Yes. It does not harm the plants.
The watering containers (on drip irrigation) are black since the lid on them is closed.
Since there is a hole at top of the receiving barrels, even when using the black barrels, I would still get scum in them.
