Had some aluminum stock sitting around so I turned a few pieces to make changing the uniballs a little easier this weekend.

Well, my tool worked and I completely rebuilt the UCAs. The uniballs definitely needed to be changed as there was noticeable play in them. Sadly though, the squeak is still there and could actually be worse.

Spraying a little dry lube on the stock LCA pivot points and the shock lower mounting points made the squeak go away for a while but it came back quickly. Guess I'll try some new King misalignment spacers and see if that's the root cause. Im open to other suggestions though. After that I think I'll change my balljoints (over 100k on them so it's time) and get an alignment. :bananadead:

Did you put some anti-seize in the cup before putting the new uniballs in? they will need to break in a bit too so hopefully the squeak lessons as time goes on.

Awesome stuff. I have the older cup press style. First time I pressed them out, i used a brass vise and they basically just fell out, in a good way. I put plenty of antiseize on the new ones, so hopefully its the same experience on those too. I think they could be done with a c-clamp while on the truck. Easy peasy

I actually prefer the press style ones myself but the other style makes it easier to press in and out without taking the arms off completely if you wanted to.

Next time I take the truck out I'll record the sound. It's horrendous. This is how people look at me when I drive by:duh:

Just received replacement bearings and spacers for my King lower shock mounts from 4WP (bearings) and King (spacers) and the damn things don't fit together. Am I crazy or does it look like King forgot a last pass on the lathe? This lip is on all 4 spacers. Or, do I just need to press them in with extra strength. Doesn't seem right.

That doesn't seem right. They should just fall into the uniball with minimal effort

    Stuff and junk and things...
King spacers are generally a light press fit. Anti-seize and tap in with a mallet.

I can understand that they might need a light press fit but I'm finding it hard to believe they designed it such that the portion of that inserts into the bearing has two different diameters. I haven't measured it, and the photo doesn't do it justice, but the first 1/5 of the parts is a smaller diameter and fits into the bearing perfectly as I would expect.

I just don't want to try press fitting it in and damaging the bearing so I was hoping someone knew off hand if this "step" was intentional.

Just to close the loop on this if anyone else was interested: spoke with King this morning and the "step" is intentional.

Time to anti-seize them up and press them in.

It's is/was the lower shock bearings but I was sent the wrong spacers (ID too small for bolt) so I had everything off and pressed in one bearing before I noticed. :frusty: fuck me :bananadead:

Ended up putting the old, fucked up spacers back in but the noise it gone.

Anyone know off hand what size the front lower strut bolt is? I'm not near my truck and I can't recall.
