DO IT DREW. It was my first attempt at riding a motorcycle/dirtbike. :bikewhoops::bananadead:

If I can find some time while I'm in town, I'd like that a lot. I'm interested in the SM only because it looks cooler than the regular KLX300:cool:, I'd probably end up putting nobbier tires on it negating any excess road manners.

Is the R the same as the base just with longer travel front and no streetable lights?

I believe it's basically just not setup with lights and such. The suspension is pretty awesome for a stock bike as far as I can tell.

I only put it in 2nd and it's a bit spooky. It still has 3 more gears.... :bananadead:

It's also the first thing other than a car I've driven that I had to use a clutch, so starting was a bit finnicky for me. Once it was going I had no problem up/down shifting. More power than I'm comfortable with with my lack of experience, but overall a super cool bike.

Correction, 4 more gears to go. It's a fuel injected, six speed, and it's plenty fast for a stock bike.

I'd still like something in the 250CC range for commute on nice days though. Might be slow, but I'd know it's limits.

It probably feels faster than it is. But hearing good things about a 300cc dual sport makes me want to get one even more now.

That's what interests me about the TW200. Slow, capable, fun.

Remember guys, it will only go as fast as you want it to go.
Which in turn means it will go as slow as you wish.

My KLR650 in HI was a bit too much of a bike for me lol

I also have a 27" inseam, so stopping on that thing almost had me getting off the bike every time

Oh, I got ya bro. My first bike was a Buell Firebolt XB12R.
All torque, learning it would go slow was quite a learning experience.
I balked at the KLX at first, thinking it would be too tall, but my boss used to use a milk crate when he raced...
I joked I was gonna need it but the suspension have enough I can get my feet down.

Hmmmmmm. Good enough. As long as it's at least $50 worth of cans
