I wanted Justin to win but don’t dislike Charles. There’s no doubt that he is a beast.

 

How the hell one judge scored 49-46 Cookie Monster is beyond me.

 

There was 1 judge that had stupid scoring. I noticed in every fight where there was a decision he/she would always score different than the other 2.

 

Plus the 1st round should have been a tie if ever a round should have.

 

Just got done watching the fights.

Anyone else want to see Khabib come out of retirement to fight Oliveira? That would be the best match-up for the division hands down.

 

Definitely. I take him at his word that he retired though despite the money he'd be offered.

 

For sure. He's actually pushing for the title match to be Oliveira vs Makkachev, whom he coaches and promotes. Makkachev is a beast and very skilled. Just not as skilled as Khabib. The way that guy could hold people down and control them was truly unique.

 

Oliveira is next level. One second you think he’s gonna get KO’ed, then he’s choking his opponent out. Like 3 fights in a row he’s been hit hard and nearly knocked out and he comes back and wins it.

 

Agreed. That's what would make a Oliveira/Khabib match so good. Neither is a striker but both can stand with the best in the world. Both are so good on the ground it would be really interesting to see how the fight played out.

Khabib's level of ground control is insane though. Think about this for a minute. Everyone he fought new exactly what was coming. They where going to get taken down and held there. So they train for that. I'd bet at least 60% of his opponents camps where how to get back up. They do this for weeks on end. Then they step into the ring with him and get taken down and held there. That's against the the best guys in the division. Repeatedly. lol

It was a pretty good card despite losing that fight. Lots of great finishes. I thought Kattar won the main event but Emmett managed to get the nod.

Yep. Card is legit. The prelims would be a main card on most other nights. lol

 

Even the early prelims look good, and they're on ESPN. Usually they show those on espn2 or some other pay platform.

 

They're setting up the Izzy vs Pereira fight.

 

And with Pereira ktfo Strickland, it's on.

Out to dinner with the fam and a family friend at a hibachi place in Danbury CT, which is the next town over from me, and this guy walks in with some other people.

I didn't want to bother him cause he was out with his wife and friends, but the Mrs walked over to him and asked if he could take a pic.

Totally cool guy. Super nice.
