Yah no Taco’s and no people either.

Toyota doesn’t really need any help having nothing available.

Considering my past experiences there with deplorable service, I shed no tears over their difficulties.

I don't live in the interior. Never been to either dealerships. I was wondering the circumstance of the arson as they said 2 people were in custody. Can't help wonder if People were pissed with something or someone at this location? If the auto repair shop portion of the building was impacted by the fire it would suck for the mechanics that work in there tho.

Don't know, don't care. It was the service department that screwed me over.

Someone at another BC Toyota dealership told me they have family in Penticton and they wouldn't go anywhere near that dealership.

An afternoon run through the City of Paris and up to the No 7 Mine and ore bins at the No.7 Mine that ran to Boundary Falls.

City of Paris Mine dump, remains of the portal is in front of my truck. I toured the old working in 2004 when I was logging core where my truck is parked. In the back of the workings there are remnants of wooden rails for the mine cars to run on. fortunately I went in with an experienced underground shift boss as the overhead hazards where impressive but invisible to the inexperienced.

View south from the City of Paris overlooking Danville Wa and looking towards Republic Wa. Less than 1km south, maybe 250m south of the border, is the Lone Star open pit. Ore from the Lone Star was hauled straight north ~20km to the mill at Phoenix. All access to the mine was from the Canadian side and it was essentially, outside of reporting and taxation, a Canadian operation. There is a fence of drill hole right along the border.

Ore from the No. 7 Mine and nearby workings went by tram line to Boundary Falls between Greenweird and Midway.

Love the area. So steeped in history. Loved the show with Bill Barlee and Mike Roberts. Bill was such a literal gold mine of information on the area and the mining that went on throughout BC. We live in an amazing Province. Would have loved to have seen Phoenix in it’s heyday. Looked for the lost city of Paris once but was not too sure if we found it. Was fun looking tho.

I've managed several exploration programs in the area. I have a 1908 Geological Survey of Canada map of Phoenix that includes a detailed map of the city. I found out my great aunt was a school teacher there.

Let me clarify this. These old mining camps are covered in a patchwork of small Crown Grants. Many of these Crown Grants have surfaces rights included with mineral rights (water and timber rights are also included in many). They are private land. Several items of Frank's collection have come from Crown Grants with surface rights. He is removing items from private land.

There are some very real hazards in and around these old working that without training you wouldn't realize are there.

Owners of these Crown Grants have publicly challenged and warned him.

    Franks has offered up a variety of excuses;
    - He didn't know ... so the Crown Grant owners gave him a map and told him to stay off their land
    - He can't read the map ... he's licensed pilot, he damn well better be able to read a map
    - He can't find records in mineral title records of the required annual fees/work being done ... Crown Grant records are under Land Titles not Mineral Titles, a quick search of the government web site will tell him that.

What he does is no different than raiding old barns in farmer's fields.

Yeah, don't know all the details of Franks' explorations or exploitation's. I don't understand all of the grants, claims and surface rights stuff. I do however find his YT content very interesting. Did not know what was left to see below ground in Phoenix until I started to watch his videos. Very fascinating to see how they mined in the late 1800 to 1940's.

Most folks just see a huge mess, permanent environmental damage and junk left behind once the precious materials have been extracted out of these places. Companies just walk away.

I Don't condone trespassing or taking any stuff from these places but obviously Frank has found lots of stuff left behind and has taken it for his personal collection.

He does admit that he sometimes trespassers but considering some of these Mines have been abandoned for years, can't say as I blame him. Hopefully I will pay him a visit later in the year

Taxes are still being paid annually to maintain the Crown Grants. No different than you paying your annual property taxes.

If the taxes were not being paid, then the Crown Grants would be considered abandoned.

Just because private land is rural and remote does not mean it is fair game for trespass and plunder.

    I hate thieves.
