Hey at least the Spartan locker unlocks on one side. I could use that win. My wrenching to wheeling ratio is not so great since my Moab trip 2020

I feel like I wrench more than I wheel these days. But thankfully it makes my wheeling rather mechanically uneventful

I need some sliders on my beater. Going to Utah in November and I have a feeling it'll be a workout. Then right after that trip she's coming apart for turbo kit

I never thought the day would come, but I found a Toyota 4x4 rear 3rd intact in the junkyard.

    And it's a 4.56.

Got the matching front too, along with an OE (blue) CV and a manual locking hub. The CV needs a new boot. The other CV was aftermarket and the hub was gouged because whoever installed the CV used a chisel instead of a brass drift to free the hub body, so I left those. I just wanted extras to practice rebuilding.

Also snagged some of those manual mirrors with the adjustment levers... unfortunately one is scuffed and the sail panels were gone. I grabbed them because I remember some folks here wanted them. I'll post pics later... but holler at me if you know what I'm talking about and might want to buy them.

Yeah, I was amazed the truck wasn't stripped clean already. Diffs are usually gone by noon on the day the truck shows up. This one actually came in yesterday... maybe because it's a holiday weekend?

Yeah, that's a pretty good guess, people are probably on a trip or at home with the fam already.

I got an email notice about a complete 1st gen Tacoma at the Aurora pull and pay once. By the time I got there that afternoon all that was left was the bed and camper shell lol.

Seems like people are making a business out of nabbing JY LS engines and selling them on FB and CL lol

Some guy offered me "a few hundred dollars" to pull an engine for him.

I don't feel confident doing that, and didn't have the time regardless, but it's nice to know I look the part...

I have that set, OTC front end kit?

Sad thing is, others have used it before I've had a chance to :bananadead:

Haha yeah I'd buy it, I could see you giving off that vibe.

Does your truck already have 4.56s?

    @Yota X

We were talking about steel the other day.

    I just scored a 26" x 48" 3/16" steel plate free from my wife's family member :angrygirl:

He's got a small table top band saw (with stand and all) for only $50. I said I'll take it, just need to grab it a different day when I've got room.

I was fully covered in gear oil running a 1/2" impact on the front diff mounts at the time, so we'll call it a good costume.

The truck has 4.10 right now. 31" tires, 5spd, 3rz.

I'm not sure what I'll do with the diffs. I think the 4.56 is cool because it's uncommon, but I'd have been more excited to find 4.30. I want to give the truck a little more zip without totally hosing fuel economy.

4.56 with a 32/33" tire sounds nice so these might sit on a shelf until new tire time comes around.
