I run a mixture of 93 octane pump gas, 100 octane avgas, and 110 octane race gas in equal parts. It might be overkill, but I've never had a fuel related failure.

    Oh look, another mod....
This is a truck, not a bespoke luxury vehicle. Use 87 Octane and nothing more. 89, 93 or higher octanes is a complete waste of money.

Been running regular for the last 12 years on my Taco. Nothing wrong with the fuel system yet.

87 octane because that’s what the manual said. 13 years and 365,000 miles later no issues.

What does the owners manual call for? Just use that. On 2nd get it says to run regular. So you will not get any Benefit running premium.
My Infiniti G37 said to run premium only because it’s a high compression engine. So you put regular, and you can damage it.
Had a 2005 Honda Accord v6 6 speed and the manual said to run regular unleaded gasoline. But you can run premium for additional performance. So the ecu was made to detect and change the timing. People checked the difference on the dyno and it was 10whp additional.

so on 2nd gen tacomas at least..there is no point at all to run anything but regular.

87 all day. Will mix in a 93 on those special occasions (anniversaries, birthdays, etc.)

Single malt scotch whiskey only. If you buy barrels in bulk you save quite a bit.

My Tacoma was born in Mexico so it’s first gas in the tank was Mexican fuel.

I run top-tier 85 octane E10 in my 4 cylinder because it's available and it tolerates it, but if I had the V6 I would run 87 minimum. The V6 can somewhat take advantage of higher octane, but you won't get your money's worth unless it's tuned specifically for higher octane.

No surprise here. On occasion I’ll run a tank of Shell 89 octane only for the additional cleaning additives. No performance change expected or experienced.
