P1604/2442 code advice: can I drive 1000kms to my mechanic (I’ve read the existing threads)

I have a 2012 TRD Off-road with 198xxx kms. Two days ago my trac off and check engine lights came on and the truck went into limp mode. I unplugged the battery, checked my gas cap, and the lights went off, everything returned to normal and I took it for a drive without issue. This morning the lights came back on when I started the truck and limp mode returned. The codes are p1604 and 2442. I haven’t talked to the dealership yet so am unclear whether they’ll cover the pump on recall. I’ve cleared the codes and the truck is currently running great.

The purpose of my thread is to ask if anyone has thoughts on driving the truck 1000kms tomorrow when I’m meant to drive to Alberta. From reading through existing threads it sounds like this is a non essential air quality control pump that only does work on cold startups? I have a good mechanic there as well as a relationship with the dealership so would much prefer to deal with it when I arrive, but I also don’t want to get stranded. Any educated input would be greatly appreciate!

1,000km in fail safe ‘limp mode”.
That’s 621 miles for us here in the U.S.

That trip is going to take forever in limp mode.

 

The truck is currently running great. I cleared the codes and “limp mode” is gone. I’m concerned about it coming back and whether I could make the issues worse or cause additional damage. From talking to the dealership this afternoon is sounds like there is still a recall available for this issue that expires next year so in theory the repair won’t cost me anything. From reading through the other threads it sounds like it won’t happen while driving, only when I cold start the truck, in which case I can let it warm up and clear the codes again?

 

Should be good, send it, especially if you have a way to clear the codes and limp mode, then let the dealership deal with the bullshit air injection system.

Also +1 to the tally of another 2012 falling victim of SAIS failure likely due to the lack of the shutdown purge.

 

I’d take the scanner with me just in case, that way you can clear the codes and keep driving.

 

Just bring the scan tool and clear the codes as needed
