Have any one had a problem with the Needle bearing to breaking inside the diff

 

My broke while taking it out.
Is yours actually broken or just worn and giving you vibrations?

 

I was just doing the upgrade and Notice one of the bearings was gone

 

Then while I was removing the needle bearings the tool broke So right now my Tacoma is out of commission I was doing the job today

 

I’m trying to ask if anyone knows where I can get one of those tools

 

One of the rollers?
If so, take a magnetic pickup tool and see if you can find it.

 

I got the tool from ECGS when I did my bushing.
Other guys have used different methods.

Here are a few, I’d got to my local parts store and see if they have a rental tool that will work.
My bearing wasn’t in there all that tight, and I feel like a slide puller would work if you can dig up something to get behind the lip.

Man I just messed up I got the tool from Auto zone and instead of pulling out the needle bearing I actually push in about 3 to 4 millimeters in the actual housing or sleeve where the needle bearings go in into the diff I ordered the tool in Amazon and is going to
Arrive tomorrow
So tomorrow I’m gonna pull out The needle bearing but I don’t know when I put everything together the sleeve where the bushing goes Because I pushed it in about 4 mm I don’t know if he’s going to create any problems

But I believe the bearing/bushing goes directly inside the carrier.
I’m not sure how you managed to get it to move?

I don’t recall mine moving at all when I did mine.?

 

I know I was me being stupid I didn’t think I will move but do you think can I lived it like this ?

 

I honestly can not say for sure I know what it is you are say moved?
The carrier shouldn’t move in/out, and if yours did something is wrong.

A picture of what you are talking about would help.

 

Is more the 1 sleeve attached to the diff housing

How can I pull it back out without taking the diff apart

 

I don’t know, I’m still trying to figure out how it moved?
I’ve even looked at diagrams and I can’t figure out what that is.
I think it’s part #41311B in the diagram. Which is a plate washer that is in front of the bearing.


I’d honestly wait until some other guys jump in, I just don’t think it should have moved. The bearing I believe is pressed against the carrier.

 

I think the diff is still ok and not affected. I could be wrong.

Here are a couple photos of ecgs bushings I've done. I'd bet the OP can still successfully pull the needle bearing out, and install an ecgs bushing. I've only used ecgs tools to remove and install the bushing, so I can't comment on other tools for the job.

 

I’m much more familiar with GM 10 bolts.
I’ve never had a Toyota IFS differential apart. And honestly never want to.
If I knew more about how they were setup, I might know more advice to give.

Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge can let us know.
If it were me, for now, I’d go around and spin the front tire on the passenger side and see if anything grinds or sticks.

I mean, worse case, you put it together and hope for the best.
I’ve done, I didn’t want to. But it’s the only option I had.

Pull the needle bearing and try to get a puller behind that sleeve or whatever it is

 

Man I pulled it out and install the ECGS bushing and The new axles and everything seems to be working right I think
