So, right now, I'm taking out the wall cabinets, floor cabinets and counter top the previous owner installed in the garage. The house was custom built in 1990, it's a nice brick ranch but I've always hated these homebuilt shelves. He was kind of a tightwad (the previous owner) and he built these things out of scrap wood. I kinda feel bad taking them out because he was super proud of them, he built them with his own two hands, I get that but my God they're really piss poor. Anyway, I'll post before and after pictures later but the point of all this is that I ended up buying one Costco shelving unit (the one that I mentioned before), 6 of their 27 gallon totes for $10 or $11 each and 3 of their smaller (17 gallon?) clear totes for $20. I'm taking like 30+ gallons of old paint cans, 20+ year old unused oil bottles and a bunch of other crap to the toxic waste site tomorrow. Then I'm going to tear down the old cabinets and haul off all the garbage to the landfill. Then, I'll fill up the totes from the crap I took off and out of the shelves/cabinets, fill up the totes, assemble the industrial rack, rack and stack the totes and hopefully park my new F-150 into the garage. I hate having that thing sitting outside, it's driving me nuts! But I'll post up my thoughts on the shelving once I get all this done. It may be a while, I'd love to get it all done this weekend but I doubt I get to it all. I have to mulch the beds yet on top of everything else. Good times!

The shelves at Costco are made by Edsal and are really solid and heavy duty. In my case I wanted the large 90 x 90 size.

One other nice feature of the Gladiators is they offer this endcap hanger kit that works great for lawn tools.

I have racks galore. I need cabinets.

    Hanging 15/32" ply now.

What are some lower cost but decent UPPER cabinet ideas?

Cheap contractor grade kitchen cabs or build your own.

I personally am not a fan of overhead cabinets in the garage. They like to accumulate junk. I run basic wood shelves for overhead storage (cheaper than cabinets and I can see at a glance what's up there) and pegboard for wall storage. It keeps things tidy.

Trying to hide all my junk is not sounding smart all a sudden. Shelves are good!

I have a mix of gladiator gearwall with shelving and plastic bins up high, and excessively nice cabinets and counters low (and high on one side). Plastic bins with labels help keep me organized.

I have the Costco shelves in my storage locker for long term stuff like the holiday decorations I couldn’t care less about. Then some teak IKEA shelves in the center of the garage from my college days serving up more bins of connectors. The Costco shelves are fantastic but have a certain look, while my garage, though excessively cluttered right now, could be rather nice if I didn’t have kids and was more able to finish truck mods I start.

I installed ProSlat wall organizer. Highly recommend. This thing holds a lot and really cleaned up the loose items in the garage. Installed another one on the opposite wall. Next is the epoxy floor.

So, I was parking my Tacoma in here, it doesn't normally look like this but I had taken off the doors and drawers and then I thought "crap, I should have taken a before picture" so this is midway through teardown.

I'm not finished with this, this is still a work in progress but here's where I'm at now so far.

Kinda cleaned up, this is the new shelving from Costco installed and totes stacked on the shelves.

And, lastly, new truck fits, whoo hoo!
