    Be careful removing the drain and fill plugs if they are the hex style, the hex style tend to strip out , not the plug but where the hex section is.
    These can be replaced with Lexus drain plugs that have a bolt style head instead

    Your question pertained to your axle; my response would've helped to answer your question.

    Your shifter has nothing to do with your rear axle.

    Buy a fluid pump from Amazon to pump that heavy-weight fluid into those fill holes. Front is impossible to reach on my 03. Don't forget the 3 silver crush washers and the copper washer for the front.

    Got part numbers for those Lexus drain plugs? i don't much care for the OEM tacoma ones, because I have found they strip pretty easy.
