What makes them so hard to get these days? I had assumed breweries would just be giving em away cause of how many you’d assume they have.

Keg shortage. Demand is higher than production. They aren’t easy or cheap to replace. I think it would also depend on the brewery. If they are a place that distributes and does well taking kegs out of rotation means lost money. Breweries fill them, distribute, take them back, clean them, refill then send back out.

It also costs a lot more than $30 to replace.

My sixtels are $100/pop. 1/2 barrels even in bulk can be double that new.

So $30 for a keg that brings in $1,000/mo of income and $150-$200 to replace is a good deal.

Thats how well the beer industry is growing in the US.

    Lol its not.

Its hard to explain. There is a high demand for quality beer. I have traveled to many a city specifically for beer. Bend, OR; Eugene, OR; Denver, CO; Madison, WI; New Holland/Traverse City, MI; Ashville, NC; Nashville, TN you name it. I travel for trails, beer, and mountains. I have yet to find a city thats over saturated in the beer market. You can have 8 breweries in a city block and theres still plenty of business to go around.

But… beer is expensive to make. Especially now. Aluminum for cans is hard to get, hops are harder to source (especially with climate change), and barley and malts are getting expensive.

So can you make enough of a living to survive and keep your tap house open? Yep. Are you ever going to get rich on beer? Probably not.

Its a passion business. The love of it has to be enough.

Which is the only reason I’m not in it full time. I can’t work in it and save to own my own place.

    But one day :)

The same thing that’s making everything have hard to get. Manufactured shortages. But, that’s an convo for another day and another forum.

Ain’t it crazy tho? Like as far as we have came in technology and advancements and here we are, in 2022 where there’s shortages of everything. Feels like we have regressed big time in only a couple years.

My balls are abnormally huge. Even on test while they have shrunken they are still big. Definitely a more manageable size and not in the way now so that's a plus.

    Be well :)

If any randomers are lurking or just hopping in to check out the thread. Don’t get on social media to see 18yr olds DL’ing 800lbs and let it deter you from starting your own journey. Everyone has their own timeline and life.

the best thing you can do is just compete with that man in the mirror every day. Get in the gym. Move some weights. Eat some food. Get some rest. And the progress will come with it.
