    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    I use regular "Dyno" oil, and the LS addative mentioned in the first post. Being as I tow, and frequently have the rear submerged, I change it every 15 to 20k miles.

    I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
    So after 7000 miles after going to synthetic on my Limited Slip Differential I still have no problems (no grinding sounds). I got chance to fully test it on incline to confirm that it still works. Truck had one wheel on pure ice and other on solid ground and climbed 5-10 degree hill with slight wheel slip.

    So anybody who has factory clutchpack Limited slipp, if you want to go to synthetic, following combination works very well. Mobil Delvac
    $28 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75W-90 plus two 4 oz GM additive bottles (thanks to NAAC3TACO for part number)

    I have tired searching and reading but I cant fine the thread on changing the front diff and transfercase.. Could someone please be so kind and point me the right direction?

    So do you think stock from factory the taco 2nd gen had dyno oil in the differentials? im going to change mine in a couple of days and didnt know if i should use the synthetic or not .

    Synthetic is fine. Its a myth that switching to Syn. can cause leaks.

    I changed the oil in my front and transfer case,there is two plugs on each,top fill ... bottom drain,seemd self explanitory to me,i guess if i did it wrong ill be buying new gears , but i think that its was done correct.

    Thanks for the write up and pics! I've never changed diff fluid before and I must say its easier than an engine oil change. However, I don't think I'll go with RP next change. It was a bit pricey at $18/qt.

    ok so ive been reading this post for about 30-45 mins now and everyone seems to be talking about mechanical and electronic lsd's what if you are like me and just have an ole one wheel wonder? anything special i need to know before buying the diff oil? should i go synthetic or stay dino? thanks for the advice.

    Yea that works now. I don't see anything I would be too worried about there. Looks OK just part of the clutch material wearing. That is the reason for the magnetic plug.:thumbsup:

    For One if you making picture of particles make on white paper :D
    From picture that does not look bad at all, when you say 5 k Late , how long since the last change and what oil did you run it. I had probably much more particles after 12K running on original factory oil. But I also towed in that 12K

    Yeah...I'm pretty familiar with magnetic plugs...The helo has a few of them...

    I didn't have a white paper nearby and the hand gives you some idea of size....

    I'm at 34K and change...It should have been done at 30K. I still had the stock from the factory oil in there until now. This time I used 80W-90 Lucas Gear oil with whatever LSD addative that AutoZone had.

    my 09 ac 4x4 4 cylinder has no LSD sticker on the differential but the window sticker when i bought it said auto LSD. I am thinking I need the additive. Correct? :confused:
