I have had a 1st Gen, 2 Gen and a 3dr Gen. I have enjoyed them all, but the 3 Gen is my favorite.

The frame will rust before the sheet metal. I don't see how much better the composite bed is than if the bed was made of steel. 2nd gen Tundras seem to do alright with the steel bed.

Edit: Maybe the biggest benefit to the composite bed is if and when Toyota performes a frame replacement. It's got to be easier to work with than a rusty bed, and can be reused.

when it comes to rust proofing, a composite bed means a lot less area to cover

I hate my 3rd gen, so much I have dumped 10k plus into it.:D

I’m keeping it forever (Or until my wife accomplishes her goal of slowly poisoning me for life insurance)

Wheel, tires, radio, suspension, graphics, grille, interior, etc

I made a First gen to Third gen transition and I absolutely love it. First gen lasted me 390k miles before rust got her. Now I'm in California and got a 2.7L Double cab. Love it! 24.8mpg on my daily commute and I expect to have it last me 390k minimum, if not more.

Probably could have gotten a Trail Boss Silverado and would have already been there. Lol

I know those aren't as nimble, and that wouldn't be as much fun.

until it "shits the bed" it is the only truck I will have. Took regearing (4.88's), suspension (6112/5160 w HS AAL and Sumo's), Supercharger and YotaWerx Tune to make it fun to drive for DD use and pulling my camper. All around a better truck than my Gen2 (4.0 MT which shit the bed due to mother nature and baseball size hail). I don't even want to think about what comes next as for a succession plan.

I love my 3rd Gen. and plan on keeping it for 20+ years. It’s a simple truck that has everything I need and nothing I don’t. If I wanted a fast truck I would have purchased something with a V8.

My last truck was a Ram 1500. It was fast as f*ck but all the flashy stuff started to breakdown after a few years, especially the electronics. My Tacoma is nice and simple, just like I wanted and I found with my Ram that I did not need a full size truck.

Recently forced to move from a 2nd gen to a 3rd gen.

Prior I was anti-3rd gen, but once I started driving it and learning about it, I love it just as much as I loved my 2nd gen (for the 13 years I had it).

I had planned to keep my 2nd gen until I died or it died, and now I plan the same for my 3rd gen.

beat the living crap out of it - totalled. The bed was full of hail up to the middle of the rear window - which like all others was gone. Swiss cheese.

I liked my third gen Taco, but they couldn't stop the shake from the rear end area so they bought it back.

Took the no payment opportunity and went to a first gen Tundra and didn't look back.
