I just got a set of these in 285/75r16 to replace my STT Pros. Been running mud terrains for 10 years and this is my first set of "A/Ts" - though they are so aggressive with the lug spacing and sidebiters they may as well be an M/T. Pretty excited to try them wheeling next week.


3 peak rated, 3-ply sidewall and a 50k warranty.

 

Nice choice. Been eyeing these as a replacement for my MT Baja atz. Just need them to come out with the 315/75/16 flavor so I can chop up my truck some more.

 

What was the damage to your door or wallet? depending on how you look at it. Which vendor? I ordered in April and I noticed they were actually $50 cheaper than when I had previously purchased at the end of December but simple tire canceled my order after they realized their inventory count was wrong.

Mine came from Parrish tire Co, which they aren't listed on Kenda's website as being an approved reseller, but they also weren't listed and being a prohibited reseller. I almost emailed Kenda to confirm but a quick Google search returned that Parrish is their south east US region distributor.

The tires were pretty fresh, being manufactured the 49th week of 2021.

 

I've had quite a few different tires over the years: Baja Claw, Goodyear M/TR (original, not Kevlar), Baja MTZ P3, STT Pros, Toyo M/Ts. I was originally tryign to find the Baja Boss M/T, but after being out of stock for almost 3 months, I settled on the A/Ts and pretty happy with them so far. BUT - proof is in the pudding how they will do on the trails.

 

I REALLY want the BBMTs but they are probably overkill for me. They are currently in my cart though haha

Are M/Ts livable for a DD? You've had a ton so I assume yes.

 

They can be...tolerable, haha. I've never been worried about road noise, tire weight or comfort when buying tires.

M/Ts have notoriously faster treadwear and not always the best traction in snow/ice or rain. The wet/ice/snow traction on the Baja Boss A/T is the one thing that had me the most interested (with their 3-Peak rating). They have excellent siping, good lug spacing and staggered layout. The 50k warranty was kinda just a bonus - though not sure if it will ever get used (on average, my M/Ts have lasted around 35k-40k miles).

The Baja Boss M/T is even more aggressive with the lug spacing and with less siping, so I imagine they won't perform as well on ice or wet pavement, but probably a bit better performance off-road. If you can deal with the noise, faster treadwear and slightly worse traction on ice/snow/wet, than you won't have any issues.

The MT ATZ P3 that I have now aren't quite at 50% worn with about 33k on them so realistically good for 60K or so. 50k on the BBAT shouldn't be a problem, seems like a conservative warranty.

 

My truck had a set of maxis bighorn MT LR-E when I first got it. Not sure on total milage for the set, but I put about 30k on them, and then went to the Cooper MTP LR-E and kinda alternated between them and a set of Les Schwab all terrains depending on if I was just commuting or headed out somewhere for a trip, but I probably got 40k out of those but they wore rather quick towards the end. Both the bighorns and the coopers got a decent bit louder with road noise once they got below 50%.

 

That’s kind of where I’m at with my a/t (hybrids) def louder than new but not too bad
