Those of you that have rock sliders… did you just have them shipped to your house? Wondering what’s the best way to go about shipping my sliders for a smooth process. Thanks

With large items it's usually cheaper to have it sent to a business with a dock, or have it shipped to a local terminal and pic it up there. Cheapest is to buy from somebody local and pick it up there of course.

I have not shipped/received sliders but I do deal with LTL Freight (less than truckload) a lot. As mentioned above, shipping to a business with a dock or terminal pickup is the cheapest option. For terminal pickup, your order is shipped to the closest terminal and you drive there and get it during pickup hours. The terminal could be 5 miles away or 50+ miles away, depending on your location and carrier. This is actually an easy option if the terminal is close.

If you ship to your house here are some considerations:
    • Limits carrier options for the fabricator. Not all carriers will deliver to residential.
    • Carrier will call to schedule delivery, you need to be home to accept delivery. This isn't UPS Ground/Amazon, they won't just drop it in your driveway
    • The freight company will call to schedule delivery (usually Monday-Friday)
    • Scheduled delivery may be a big window (2-4 hours or all day)
    • Expect no help from the driver unloading
    • Expect no pallet jack in the delivery truck
    • Expect no lift-gate on the truck unless you request it and pay extra
    • You are responsible for unloading your order. Don't cut the slider off the pallet and expect the driver to haul away your junk.
    • You can cut your slider off the pallet unload it by hand and unload the pallet and all of your trash.
    • Your delivery could be in a box truck or on a semi with a 26'-53' trailer. Usually, a freight company will not send a 53' trailer to a residential delivery in an urban/suburban location but it happens and you never know. For rural delivery, all bets on equipment type are off.
    • Make sure a semi/large truck can fit into your neighborhood, onto your property, or park on the street (not a busy street)
    • Be ready and unload quickly, the driver has other deliveries. Don't tell the driver that this is bigger than you thought and you need to have your second cousin leave work and drive over to help you and he is only 37 minutes away so is it ok if he waits!
That's a big list of stuff and its sounds worse than it is. It's fairly easy to do a residential freight delivery you just need to be prepared for it.

I got RCI sliders and they were just regular FedEx shipped to my house. IIRC it was like $200 in shipping so definitely not the cheapest option, but dealing with any kind of LTL shipping shenanigans or finding a loading dock just didn't seem worth the hassle.

I’m in this same boat. Looking for some companies that don’t require the ridiculous loading dock shenanigans.

I had mine shipped to a terminal 30m away. They put the sliders and pallet in my truck with a forklift and I was able to get them out by myself. It was smooth and kind of fun and interesting. They were even nice enough to give me a couple straps after I realized mine were not in the truck where I normally keep them.

I think it would have been a bigger hassle to have them delivered to my door if that had been an option. I live in an urban condo with limited street parking, no forklift, and the need to transport them from the street to my underground parking. YMMV.

I had my RCI sliders shipped to my house. When they arrived I backed my truck up to the back of the semi trailer. The driver and I slided the pallet from his trailer into the my truck.
