:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Happy Independence Day to All!

Sorry to hear all the covid stuff - it's on the rise and we've had none of it. Hope to keep it that way. Wifey is better every day, thank you, and I still have house chores to do. But, will be safer to make longer outdoor putzes without worry as time goes on. Hopefully, Dr. will contact her, and she can find out if she can wear Tegaderm patches in the pool, since it's another week of 100+*!

Happy Birthday to the Declaration of Independence! Thumbing their collective noses at the world's most powerful war machine -- that took some nerve.

One of the long-range effects is, we will not know the true scope of C-19 for another 40 to 50 years. SO I do the best I can do before entering a situation as a person.

Prayers for you and the family Jim.

Doing some odds and ends today around the house. Going to hang pork steaks in the WSM later today along with some Jalapeno poppers and pineapple wedges. Might even throw on some asparagus.

    Morning all:

Close! Maybe they should have posted they were shooting "AT" prairie dogs at 1000 yds., but they did manage to get a few, sounds like a fun thing to do though.

Said there were 7 of them and they were spotting for each other.
Here is some of what they were using:
BCG 6mm Creedmoor Alpine clone XP-100
    .25 Creedmoor XP-100 w/Sightron S-III 6x24
    .22 Creedmor XP-100 w/Sightron 6-24
    .22 GT .223

It said one guy got one on the first shot (shot of a lifetime), and the guy with the .223 took 96 shots until he got one.
I just found it interesting that they were using something other than long guns to shoot that distance.
If you want to look at the article it's on "Predator Masters Forum">varmint hunting>once in a lifetime shot.

Well car back together and I just checked the alignment.
Had to make one minor adjustment (that I didn’t really have to).
Good job by Bob lining everything up.. just to bad I couldn’t help him do it.
So ,,,at least I could align it up with the place to myself.

Hot and sweaty. I shorted my crank arms to get my feet to clear the Velomobile Bodywork. Amazed, I got the correct R & L Tapped arms (did left-hand thread first, left tap in that crank arm so I wouldn't use the same tap twice. Drill, spot-faced, taped. Feels good to jog my memory and do a little metal work.

    upload_2022-7-4_17-55-39.jpg

Meanwhile, my son was helping out on the truck. The original plan was to run wiring inside the fender well but ended up running alongside the frame and getting heat shield tubing where it passes close to the exhaust. I need more clips and that funky foam tape to get it back together.

Fun weekend. All the kids made it over at various times to visit with us.

Hope you guys/gals are having a great day. We have our 12th year running neighborhood pancake breakfast honoring veterans, law enforcement, and first responders. I must have cooked 200 pancakes myself. We had 3 grills going. I’m sure someone didn’t have a good day because we had a flyover by life flight close by.

The wife and I finally saw Top Gun 2.

On a somber note, my dad would have been 92 today. He was a major in the air force. I was born in an air force base hospital. He flew a C-119, KC-97, and a C-124. I can remember him going on missions where he couldn’t say he was going. We would get a call from a Ham radio operator connecting us to him in Vietnam, Guam, Thailand, and elsewhere in the world. Those planes carried heavy equipment. I spent many a day at Hill air force base after he transferred to Utah. Later, due to hearing loss in those loud planes, he joined the reserves and taught radar guidance systems. Happy birthday dad.

    Have a great evening.

I figured that there was a explanation. The best small animal shooting for fun I ever had was with a 204 Ruger flat shooting to 300 yards no leading on running squirrels…….AR-15 bull barrel off a platform on the back of a truck Modoc California, Belding squirrels, then the 22-250 almost as fast as the 204, then the 223’s finally the rim fires 17HMR then 22LR when your shoulders were mulch. 2000 shots in a day was not uncommon. The old guys that let us control the populations died off and we never did find another avenue in.

I would put a bull barreled 204 AR against anything but wind. The 20 caliber bullet does not like crosswind……

I have a 17HMR; great for anything within a couple hundred yards; but freakin' loud for such a small round.

Nice set up. How do you deter ants?

Not much to do today. A little pond maintenance and go purchase some bird seed. Shrimp & Beef tenderloin chain muscle pieces on K-Bobs tonight. My son's Godparents gave us some squash, fresh squash on the K-Bobs.

I did my first string alignment recently after a suspension refresh on the targa. It's a pretty cool exercise.
