Ask him this question, ya don't mind.

    <or anyone else here>

In regards to running a brush cutter, hydraulic motor and fluid temperature. Longevity of hydraulic system, better to run in Hi flow or in the standard flow? I will be able to run either 1/2 or 3/4" hoses on the particular CID cutter I'm considering.

I' m really think it's Hi flow, more fluid movement across the motor and cooling through the radiator. Thanks!

You really need to watch the temp gauge.

High flow does not always equal more cooling.

The fluid may move too fast to give up it's heat to the rad.

The only real way to know is to read temps in and out.

I have no idea if there are restrictors to encourage efficient cooling running high flow mode.

Agree, and I did order it with hi flow, which has a couple more gallon capacity than standard. I can only assume there will be no issues.

I really wish there was seperate temperature gauge for hydraulics, cause there is so much that uses the hydraulics on this skidsteer.

My wife's grandfather has this Bolens Diesel G214 with a box blade behind it. I am going to see about using it to scrape up the driveway. The last huge rain event washed it out pretty good. If I can't grade it properly I can at least repair the damage.

I want to see about finding some rippers for the blade. I am trying to find a brand that matches the old stencils, but no luck. If anything, I could at least take some measurements and find some that fit.

Hard to tell by that angle but looks like a front notched shank holder to me.

@toysrgood Check my math on that though. Look and see where the box blade slot is worn from the notch riding and then measure the pin strap and make sure the pin can go behind the shank.

You win some, you lose some.

On the plus side, the motor runs perfectly. I kind of like these EFI units

On the minus side, I've got a massive oil leak! Seems to be coming from the flywheel end.

    Out it comes!...again.

I guess the safest way about it would be to take it to the farm supply and see what drops in there.

He says standard flow, nobody hardly uses hi flow, except for a select few attachments that require it.

Thanks! Here's a pic of the old White LT-13, circa 1997-ish..

I got it 2 years ago right after I got my house. I never had a riding mower growing up so I had very little knowledge about the different makes/models so I had no idea what to look for besides a Briggs and Stratton under the hood. I found this gem on the side of the road from an old guy that did small engine repair. I took it for a test drive, it cut grass and seems to run ok.

After a year of useage I was getting tired of the CVT style "transmission" not having a 1st gear and the belts slipping on my side hill. I tried a new set of belts from Amazon, they had the P/N's that my downloaded manual showed but I still didn't have 1st or 2nd "gear" and the tractor would freewheel down the hill. I was ready to give up on it.

An old guy neighbor died across the street last fall, his adult children had an estate sale/garage sale to clear out the house for the new owner. I picked up his craftsman LT2000 for $20. It had 4 flat tires, a dead battery, a broken clutch engagement cable and no key. I jammed a screwdriver into the ignition switch, jumped it with a car battery and drove it across the street into my yard.

I started messing with this one this spring. I fixed the clutch cable, got a new ignition switch from Home depot, got a refurbished battery from Battery warehouse for $25, changed the earl. I spent $30 worth of green tire slime to get the tires to hold air. I got it to start and run but the charging system wasn't putting 13V back into the battery, I just saw a constant drain. As I opened the hood I realised what a mess the wiring harness was, someone had been doing some experiments in there..

Apparently someone had swapped in a Kholer engine in place of the Briggs that was supposed to be there and had the charging system wiring all wrong. I was able to use schematics and get the Kohler alternator wired up so that it worked with the harness that was in there. I now had a functioning charging system. I won't get into all of the details about other issues that I've had with this thing, lets just say that I felt like the White was still a better lawn tractor even though it didn't have a transmission with gears.

I recently just bit the bullet and went to a local Cub Cadet dealership and they had the MTD branded correct drive belts for the White, they cost me $75 but at least the thing works correctly now. Apparently the correct belts are some really odd sizes and the aftermarket belts just don't work.

I did get to put the craftsman mower to use last month, I used it to haul a wood splitter back and forth across the yard.

It wouldn't push the splitter back onto my trailer, it would get so far up the ramp then just stop moving while making a "popping" noise. I thought that the axle blew up but it works just fine even going up and down the side hill, so I don't know the issue is. It works and still can cut grass, I'm just done with it. It needs to find a new home. I will look at the compatibility of swapping the decks, I'd rather have the 42" deck on the White if possible.
