@Kwikvette here's where to find and what it'll look likeEnginetypecode.gif

My guess is that its going to be GX270UT1RA2. The middle digits tell me the generation and the manufacturing plant. But they don't stamp those middle identifiers on the block, however the letters in the serial number will tell me the generation. And with that I can look up the equivalent Thai spec engine and get you part numbers for way cheaper parts

Nothing lasts longer than flashlights in non-horror films.

Only if you're a background character that never hits a main character.

    @Speedytech7

Getting you in the loop; I've been checking out steel pricing (even if I got it from some rando that had extra in his or her shop). Add to that the cost of my time, I'm finding that I could buy a go kart frame for way less than building my own.

I found multiple frames between $100 to $300. Figure I could always cut and replace anything with questionable integrity and weld new steel in place.

Well, I found this thing and what stood out was the Honda GX270 that comes with it.

    Screenshot_20220705-210805_Facebook.jpg

Compression is good, but it knocks.

After multiple back and forth texts between Jimmie and I, if I need to rebuild the whole thing and replace a few extra things, it'll cost me a lot less than buying a new motor.

Apparently these Honda's are the bees knees?

These are the total parts if you can get away with just swapping the con rod. The other one was if you did the piston and rings at the same time but I wouldn't order anything till you got it apart.. who knows, you may want to do the clutch pack if it's got an ungodly amount of hours on it (or they ran it dry lol)

Ahh ok, there's the rod part number.

Trust that I'll take plenty of pics once I have it.

I used to repair small engines as a kid, Honda is some of the best for actually being able to get parts, OE or aftermarket it's all there. My fucking childhood Tecumsehs wished they had half the shit available

The popularity, availability of parts, and the amount of power and reliability they bring are the reasons why I'm buying this setup with the engine.

Was telling Jimmie I'll now just have an HF Predator motor sitting new in box looking pretty. If I ever had to use it, it'll be much slower compared to the Honda.

The go-cart I had as a kid used a nothing special 5HP Tecumseh and was still way fast. That little thing will fly with that GX engine. I have video of middle school me on it actually

    Badassss!

Yeah I haven't been on a gas motor go kart in a good +10 years.

Last time I rode was an electric go kart and even though they top out between 35-40mph it felt fast as hell in those little things.
