From what I gather it's the county we live in that is so slow, people I know in other counties are getting theirs back in less than 3 weeks.

I carry all the time, the main reason I have a CC permit is for buying guns, I can walk out of a store with one in less than 10 minutes with my permit. Otherwise you have to wait days to get a purchase permit. I've had mine going on 11 years. They are good for 5 years.

Our indoor cat was glad to see us yesterday. The lady who worked the store for us and took care of our animals only saw him twice. Once in the house, he hissed at her and ran under the bed. The other time he was leaning on the door looking outside.

If it is going to fail you can't get much better than failing in the driveway.

100% correct. He was leaving in his 1987 Suburban once and the rear end came out of it, halfway up the driveway :D

i had a $600 Oldsmobile I put 70,000 miles on, it had one failure - the alternator locked up in the driveway.
It was right on top of the engine and only took about 10 minutes to change.

I carry all time also. I dont like to wait for gun purchase, same thing its easier and quicker to buy when you have a ccw. Also i wont live in a state where im restricted to wait for gun purchase.

I had an alternator go out on my Sonoma on the way home from the shop. The charge light came on then I started smelling and seeing smoke come through the dash. I didn't have a fire extinguisher with me so I called my wife and told her to be ready with the hose. I pulled in the store, popped the hood and she put it out

    After the water on it.

Belt got so hot it melted the tensioner.

The belt was hard as a rock.

The front bearing came out is what caused the fire.

This was the balls out of the bearing

Shouldn't be hard to find a trans for that in a scrapyard, and swapping it out, while not an easy driveway job, isn't terribly tough. Good excuse to buy a trans jack if you don't already own one.

Can you not go to a neighboring county for your permit? I had to do that when I first got mine. The county I resided in, at the time, had a policy of making you wait the full 90 days as they didn't really want people wandering around the county with concealed weapons. So, I went to the neighboring county just to the north, I had the permit back in 5 days.

When I transferred the permit to my current county of residence (which coincidentally is neighboring both counties I lived in and got the permit from) it only took 3 days, and that is because they insisted they mail it to me.

Chrysler still has transmission issues into the modern era, although the owners have some to do with it. For example, grandmothers '12 Jeep Liberty 42RE is coming close to shitting the bed. We put on a new transmission pan last year due to it being rusted out. The fluid was a little nasty, but at one point it got so hot it started bubbling the paint on the inside of the old pan. Now the torque converter is having some shuddering issues, which caught early all we had to do was swap the converter. But, my grandmother never wants to fix things (Come to think about it, I think I somehow wound up paying for the pan, gasket, and filter for the transmission? o_O ) so I'm sure by now its destroyed the input shaft so now the whole transmission needs a rebuild. Wheel bearings have been needed to be replaced for almost 3 years now. The things so rusty I can't even fathom getting them off. The axle nut on them is uhm, a cone shaped rust blob. The rockers are mostly non-existent at this point, only thing covering it up is the plastic cladding...

Can't be as rusty as the Chevy Citation (and Olds Omega, Buick Skylark, etc of the era). One of GM's first venture into small FWD cars to compete with the Japanese in the day. Those things pretty much started rotting off the showroom floor. The initial press cars were hand built and nice cars, but once they started mass producing them it all went to shit...

I hadn't either. It had been making a noise for a couple months but I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. As soon as it went out, the noise stopped :anonymous:

That tensioner, I had just put it on. I took it back to the auto parts store and ask about the lifetime warranty. They gave me a new one :bananadead:

Chrysler started having transmission issues about 1989 and hasn't solved them to the current day, such a let down from the Torqueflights of the old days. :(
