Anybody have a stock frame to ground measurement for 2nd/3rd gens? For whatever reason people like to measure hub to fender or ground to fender which is not an accurate way of measuring in my opinion.

Are you trying to measure lift height?

Yes. I've had like 50 people locally ask. I think it's close to stock as far as suspension goes. Obviously tires added lift though, but that's an easy number to rough in.

For the rear, top of axle tube to bottom of frame rail is 8.25" stock so that's an easy and accurate way to measure the rear. Front, no idea, I just guesstimate personally. I'll be curious to see what you figure out, maybe make a trip to a dealership.

I might actually do that. I'm not sure why nobody uses the frame as a measuring point. Because that seems to be the most accurate way to measure from truck to truck.

Probably because tires are taken into account when measuring there, and tire sizes vary so much based on how worn they are and discrepancies between different manufacturers. When people are boasting their lift down to the 1/4" tolerance, that wouldn't be super accurate. Really none of this is that accurate though, minus the axle to frame measurement.

Out of curiosity I just took some measurements on my truck. 18.75 passenger side and 17.25 drivers side measuring right behind the cab mount. Comparing to points on the body only brings a 1/2" delta. So, who really knows.

Personally, when I think "lift" I think raising the frame. Anything that raises the frame "lifts" the truck. Tires included.

Of course this is all subjective but I would say you're in the minority. Any one of those 50 people asking about lift probably aren't thinking about your frame height, they're wondering if they can shove a 3" lift spacer in there to get that same #stance and clear 37s.

Im genuinely curious about it myself. I know getting in and out of the truck it seems lower than the old setup yet it seems massive standing in front of it. But the hood and fenders are also up like 2.5" over the second gen stuff. The stance and height it is right now is pretty killer. Not sure what it is about a low ride height and big meats, but it makes me pitch a tent.

Have you measured your frame height yet?

Yes. I have 19.125" under the front cab mount. Stock size tire would put it around 15.5 or so.

Pretty sure that most 2.5- 3” lifts and 285s put the frame around 18.5”
    Been awhile since I’ve measured.

@81Trekker @Airdog on the back of the oem power steering pump there's a ground wire bolted to this. My assumption is that this is for the oem oil pressure switch, and neither is needed anymore so I can leave both disconnected.

Reattach the ground wire and you leave the plug disconnected

Thanks. I was surprised to see it as there's not even mention of it in the FSM.

According to @RonRon23 the wire you leave disconnected just ups the idle to give you more pressure at low rpm on the stock pump. Just so you know what it is you are leaving off.

Only bumps the idle with the stock pump. Not the TC
