Spent 4 days in a pretty much deserted area. Only saw a couple vehicles each day and no one at the trailhead or anyone camping anywhere near me. Was great and very green for Colorado but a few too many mosquitoes.

For the debate on RTT vs regular tent and setup time, etc. I timed myself setting up the Kodiak tent. It took me less than 15 minutes to unpack and setup the tent. Another 10 minutes for setting up the inside table, mattress and bedding. Take-down was about the same. Tent packs up a bit faster, but rolling up the mattress and packing up bedding took a bit more time. This was all solo (dog is no help). I can probably about halve that time with a helper. I also took the truck and did some exploring a couple times and didn't have to pack up anything except the cooking stuff.

Making pizza in a makeshift oven.

We have a nice system where we leave the mattress/blankets, etc. all as is, just unplug the fill/deflate valves so it doesn’t explode going up in altitude haha. That way we can pop up the Gazelle in all of 60 seconds, huck the bed in 90% inflated, and go about making dinner. Before bed it takes a few pumps and a closed valve and we’re all set :)

I’ve been “about to” just buy the 60x for several camping seasons now haha maybe 3-5 years… we keep using our little Everest stove but we too feel that cooking is a HUGE part of camping (and life) for us. I’m looking at their big 6 burner flat top for the house as well :D

    Next year, for sure

Cool... I got this same little butane stove - works like a champ - and I believe that is a Canyon Cooler, which I also have, which
is about as good as it gets. I put a block of ice in it the night before I take off and then fill it / loose-ice it up. Did a 16 day trip
to Yellowstone a few years back and there was still a hunk of that block of ice left when we got back LOL ...

Oh... pro-tip that you probably already know - take that butane out of that stove when not in use I had one leak on me in the car...

I bought the smaller version of the canyon cooler and am not that impressed by it. Fits nice in the back-seat-foot-well but doesn't
keep ice as well as the bigger version.

Haven't cooked a pizza out in the wild tho...

Yep, Canyon cooler. Works great. I also got the smaller one with the wheels. No complaints with it either. I love the little butane stove. Much more compact and I never really need two burners. I usually boil some water for coffee and then make breakfast while enjoying the coffee. I'm in no rush when camping.

For the pizza, it worked surprisingly well. I used a heat diffuser under the cast iron pan to help keep the crust from burning and then the second pan over the top to hold heat like an oven. The crust was a tiny bit crunchy but not burned. My first try, but no complaints. Looked and tasted like pizza. I used nann bread from the store for the crust, pesto sauce, mushrooms and cheese.

Reminds me of the time I was at the edge of the Grand Canyon and a friend and I made hand made, wood fired pizzas.

One of the best dinners I ever had.

DO IT. Game changer plus the auxiliary propane tanks. Why waste another year, you’re only getting older and uglier..

Drove across the US the last few days. "Camped" at rest stops in Montana, Idaho, and Washington. Forgot to take pictures but here was my favorite one of the drive.

It is an adjustable countertop extension table IIRC. It worked well with the tailgate.

Anywhere LOL - would love to have that tough decision to make - nice setup !
For sure keep it dry, don't want a rogue few drops of rain to hit that thing at 900 degrees...
And it will need a bit of room for exhaust.

We cook out for the fam like 3x a week in the summer ha. Need more space…

Problem is split funds allocation. Fixing up the new Tundra we just got, restocking ammo, wife got a motorcycle, etc etc etc, grill is always number 3 on the list, never 1 ha.

This year though. For sure :D

Thanks for noticing I’m getting uglier

Ran out of road. Ended up at a crowded campground which felt like a tailgate. Had a great view over Lake Michigan thought.
