I'll need a solar Jackery or Goal Zero just to run the cpap and the defibrillator.

I searched for 6 months for my Unicorn: I have a 2005 Silver Streak Mica TRD OffRoad SR5 with 6-speed manny tranny, 4.0l V-6, access cab with 225K on it. I found the identical truck: 2015 Silver Sky Metallic TRD OffRoad with 6-speed manny tranny, 4.0l V-6, access cab with 40K on it. All the new foofarah, and my camper shell fits.

    Thanks for the welcome, Ken

Alan, while I somewhat agree with you, censorship of the media is not the way to go and we don’t know if that would have any effect. It’s not just a slippery slope , it’s stepping off a cliff into a great abyss. Once that’s out of the bag there’s no putting it back. I realize the US media has dropped all pretense of unbiased reporting and has instead become biased opinion reporting.
No one knows what makes these psycho’s commit mass murder and we really have no way to identify them prior to their heinous acts. There are probably tens of thousands of of wacko nut job violent posts on social media daily but we have no way to identify the next mass killer. I freely admit I have no idea how to stop or prevent these psychotic murders. I’ll end this here as I do not want to get anywhere even close to the P word. Don’t want the ban hammer coming down on me.

Understood. I'm still working full time and will not be applying for Medicare until I'm roughly 72; the issue isn't buying a new CPAP, it is buying one which meets my needs for travel; as mentioned up-thread, lugging around an older CPAP, in my case a 2007 Respironics REMstarPro M Series, is a pain in the hind parts. One option I'm considering is getting a new home CPAP via my insurance and then biting the bullet and paying for a second travel CPAP out of my own pocket. This may prove to be the best option because I don't believe my insurance company, Anthem Blue Cross, will pay for travel CPAP devices. Last time I researched home CPAP devices, the AirSense 10 was in my top two or three; your praise of the unit definitely helps.

Ken, Notice that I did not use the word censorship, but instead, I said that the freedom of the press needs tweaking. Censorship by another name, sure, but consider please, advertisers have always called the shots on what gets published and what does not, and who knows what under-the-table arrangements are made these days. About censorship itself, Don't think we haven't got it in our lives all around us. We have Politically Correct/Incorrect speech, we have Govt. enforced rules of behavior and how we interact with protected groups, on and on. Certain of these controls may get out out hand at times, but the system is self correcting over time.

    Rambling on...
Perhaps a well publicized meeting between Govt and Press, with agreements and advisories to downplay the sort of publicity that the shooters get off on. To go a step further in prevention, licensing of social media should be dependent on the flagging and removal abilities of those sources. That takes the control and puts it in the hands of the public. While we're at it, how about a campaign against violent Movie and TV shows? Why do we need mass murder entertainment on every level?

Hey Doug I found exactly what I need to tidy up that hole for the doorbell wire in the utility closet, won’t have to drill a hole in a blank plate either. I remembered that they make coax plates so this is perfect. I really appreciate your suggestion on how to to avoid patching the wall, made a light bulb go off in my head! At my nearby Lowes hardware:

Small World, I went to Conroe High School my Junior year in 1973-74. Really enjoyed living in Conroe, those were some great times. I had quite a few friends that lived in River Plantation just out town.

I've built my own... twice. I don't need to spend a small fortune to have a *real* queen size mattress, a kitchen, and a toilet on wheels. My present trailer is 1500 pounds and has everything but a shower and AC... which might be in the next one I build if I ever get around to it.

But those Bambi's are really, really nice.

Lots of ideas and all should be part of a conversation in circles with enough clout to make a difference... but odds are we will get the same old, same old, the infinite repeat of "we care"... but never having the necessary conversation much less actions... AND why? Because those people are too busy on the phone soliciting donations to their favorite "cause" (which I'll leave to your imagination).

A little something every chance we get.
And, in Utility room disease news, the utility frig caught the "10* freezer" disease from the old freezer. Applicance recycler I like has nothing that will fit, and little at all used. New scratch and dents, but I will have a new scratchless & dentless delivered Monday. Glad I caught a little 4th sale, and my Lowe's discount card for 5%. I might have to partition off the washer and dryer!

Thank you for sharing your and your wife's story! My dad had very, very similar issues throughout his life after colon cancer surgery at age 59. He had an ostomy bag from that point on. He too had 'leaks' and all that goes with them, and repeat surgeries due to perforations, and he too ended up with a seriously shortened digestive tract. He had plenty of ups and downs, and some serious quality of life issues along the way. He also lived to 94, walked on the Great Wall, set foot in all 50 states, and fulfilled a bucketload of other dreams. He saw his grandchildren have children, which was a very big thing for both him and my mom. Here's hoping you and your wife are able to live your life the way you want to live it.
Yep. That is what we've been doing. But it got out of hand recently. The traps just weren't getting the job done. I have placed some supposedly non-poisonous food pods here and there, where our 20 year old cat can't get at them. I will probably have to live with decomposition smells for a while. A tradeoff I am willing to make at this point.

I’m gonna borrow this one this morning, morning folks!

Woke the whole house up early this morning when I forgot to cancel the new alarm system and walked out the door to the garage, siren blasting away. I did my best Chevy Chase impression and said “yep! New alarm works!”

there aren’t enough baits and traps in the world to reduce your rodent issues. The important thing is to prevent them from entering the building in the first place. They can and WILL squeeze in through holes you can’t get your little finger into. And your 20 year old cat can catch the weakened rodents that took the bait. You don’t want kitty to eat those rodents!
