Heres a stock door handle height.
From that i estimated stock frame was about 15 inches, im 2.5inches taller than stock on 37s.

I have first hand verified if you ground that wire, the engine idle speed jumps 100rpms or so. I did not verify if it stays higher or if the idle up times out. I would say ground it.

Right, As it should as that's how the pressure switch works. I was more referring to the fact there isn't a pressure switch on the TC. As far as leaving it grounded, I cant see too much issue with that. Though it could potentially throw a fault for pressure switch.

The oem pump has a pressure switch built in. When pressure is at a certain threshold within the pump, it grounds the wire through the body to the block. When grounded the ecu does an “idle up” scenario. The AC switch does the same thing. TC pump does not have it.

That’s a good question. I’ll try it Friday. I have to drive out to JD anyhow. I’ll see if I get a check engine light after a couple hours of driving.

Got started on the howe pump today. I decided to remove the fan and shroud for more room to work and I’m so glad I did. It’s only a few bolts and it lifts right out. I can’t imagine trying to do this with that stuff in the way. Anyways, it made putting the shims in surprisingly easy.

One thing to note is the lower shim/bushing gets inserted from the rear of the timing cover even though the instructions mention the front (or maybe I interpreted them incorrectly). It slips right in from the rear and acts like the shim but won’t go in from the front. I wonder if this is why a couple of people have reported breaking that lower ear off. @snowsk8air2

I installed my cooler horizontally out of concern for hose clearance with my winch being so tucked up high. The bracket took minimal modifications to make it work.

Nice work on the improvising with the cooler. I'm concerned about clearance issues with my winch as well.

It was easy peezy to modify the bracket. Bent both ends over and drilled a new hole on the passenger side and that was it.

I think my problem was I fully loosened and removed the top bolt before breaking loose the bottoms one that has the ear on the timing cover. Just getting in that awkward position to break it loose and putting a little too much side load just snapped the ear.

And good work. It makes a big difference. I need to get around to switching up fittings on one of my lines as it is leaking from being at a weird angle. Just need a slight bend at one end vs a straight fitting.

Ahhhhh, yeah that’ll do it! I was hyper careful when breaking the bolts free because of the horror stories.

@EatSleepTacos I'm curious to see how yours does since we probably wheel similar stuff. I want my steering to move the truck though, so I don’t know if it’ll be enough. Still researching my options and don’t know much about steering.

It’s not gonna be moving your truck around, that’s for sure. Hopefully I’ll have it buttoned up tomorrow and we can see what it can do. If I can turn my tires while stopped on pavement, that’s already an improvement.

The aftermarket never really supported them either which is a big one. I mean how many Corollas and aftermarket companies do you see supporting them and hoping them up compared to a civic. The aftermarket industry also plays a role in support and that will trickle down to enthusiasts going after a better supported platform. That's one of the deciding factors as to why I chose the tacoma vs other trucks.

But it opens up so much more possibility. The rabbit hole is deep and it's worth going to the dark side

I agree. So many enthusiast innovated parts have some up for these trucks. Though most are reproduced or sold by larger companies now.

Speaking of which, anyone hear about a rumor of Fox Racing being bought out by Vista Outdoors? saw it floating around the interwebs

Fox Racing is the apparel and armor (mtb pads and helmets etc.) company not the shock company. That would be Fox Factory Inc. www.ridefox.com How connected are the two I have no clue. Pinkbike has an article about it Vista Outdoor Agrees to Buy Fox Racing for $540M - Pinkbike
