The CJ is definitely a stunner. But it's not just the design and looks of the WAO, the geo and suspension design is spot-on for what I'm looking for. Honestly, if they come out with frame-only I'll bite the bullet. I just can't justify dropping $9K on a bike.
Then again, I could probably part it out and have a fairly priced frame left over...

Just drop subtle hints at the next PTA meeting that you'll give Jaxton, Madisyn, and Khayliegh favorable grades for a small "donation"

@neatoneto I've only been twice (Memorial Day weekend being the other) but already have plans for Labor Day weekend and probably another between then and now!
Absolutely in love with that area!

For real. And Utah is even more "extra" when it comes to kid names.

    I blame Colorado.

When I was there we had Skyler, Skyylar, and Skylare in one of my older daughter’s classes.

Evil's combination of rear suspension feel (good pedal platform yet deep) and somewhat conservative geo have always made it a bit of a head scratcher on where their models fit in. I kept thinking the Offering built on the lighter side looked like just what I wanted for a long legged trail bike. But then I see most people building them up super beefy and hear that they descend above their class so I'm a bit unsure. They do accept angle adjust headsets so if head angle is the only holdup that's an easy fix. I'm still planning to add a -1 or even -1.5 to my Following. It's got it's own geometry oddities but I've kind of fallen for the rear end.

I get the impression the Offering rides on the bigger side. Evil's head angles do seem to be steeper than average by about a class of bike, but the overall package seems to work for the intended purpose of each. I went from the Scout at 65 to a Following at 67 and...haven't really noticed the steep HA. Still waiting for more ride time in chunkier and steeper terrain though. I still think an up-built Offering would be a pretty good match for what you're looking for. Not sure if it really pedals a ton better than a Wrecker though. Probably not a huge weight difference either.

I've been pretty tempted to pick up a used V1 even in aluminum for a cheapish "big bike" but I can't come off that loam gold V2 haha.

Too small? The Ranger has even less travel than the Rascal, so I don't understand. Perhaps you meant the Rail29?

    Ranger: 115/120
    Rascal: 130/140
    Rail29: 155/160

    Yep, Rail29!

Can't keep all these bikes straight anymore and I'm sure they're all great.

The happy truth of the matter is that you probably can't go wrong with any of the above bikes from any of the most respectable companies. We're at a point in time when mountain bike tech is just fucking stellar all around.

This. I’ve heard this from a few people. So, why not get some more reserves. Utah can certainly provide the terrain for it.
Truth. It’s just subtle differences in feel now that can be adjusted, or you just learn how to ride around.
But damn, bikes are good now. It’s so great to be able to be spoiled for choice.

i have those 686 evil collab bike pants and theyre more for park/shuttle riding. I rode my mtb around downtown on trail off shoots and they feel real stiff. they fit like my other 686 everywhere pants thought, which i think is pretty cool. so more of a every day pant made for riding? which, funnily enough, for in city riding I'd prefer my everywhere 2 pants and not the everywhere bike pants

Been eyeing the new Helfare (Matt Jones' brand) Rival stuff. Seems to be real good for DJ, enduro, park, DH stuff. not sure how they would feel on an XC style ride. I'll pick up a pair later this year once the weather cools down a bit

Love the design for the 686, How do they handle with sweat? good air flow?
