I recently bought a '15 trd sport which has Bilstein 6112 in the front and 5160 and I think a leaf pack in the rear. I don't do much off-roading, mostly highway miles with occasional dirt roads and trails.
I came across a good deal on extremely low mileage shocks springs and leafs from a '22 trd off road. So my question is would the swap be worth doing? I will lose the lift but overall I would be putting on significantly newer shocks and potentially have a better riding truck. Just looking for some opinions on whether or not this would be a wise decision.
I have 275/70 17s on the truck now, could there be rubbing with the new springs?
    Thanks

How many miles on the Bilsteins ? Are you doing the work? A lot of factors for a random person on the internet to answer.

Not sure how many miles are on them, Id estimate 40-50k, I would not be doing the work.

Is there a issue with the current setup. The 6112 is a superior coilover. If not leaking, at 50K miles they are not quite ready for replacement. Depending on their history, I would expect another 10-50K miles.

Unless you’re having issues with your suspension, why trash what you have for an inferior setup compared to what you currently have?

agreed it would be a downgrade...unless there is an issue..and if you can get the TRD ones cheap, throw em in the garage for when you need them! and nope, they wont rub. thats the set up I have

If the ride quality is bad with the 6112s you could drop the down a few notches. You will lose some lift but on road ride quality should be a little better.

iv had stock TRD shocks, the 6112s, TRD Pro shocks and expensive coil overs.

The digressive valving on the 6112s was a little rough on road which is why I switched them out.

Id say best bang for your buck is a used set of TRD pro shocks. Assuming mild offf roading and mostly daily driving

Bilstein 6112 are stiffer then the trd off road. the trd off road will make your truck feel boat-like. When you brake, you will have nose dive. When turning, your car will rock side to side.

I would also suggest that you check which setting your 6112 are at and maybe lower them. Also you could have a stiffer spring in there.
I had my 6112 on the top setting with a 650lbs spring and it was rough. Now I’m at level 3 with 600lbs spring. Much nicer.

OP - If your truck’s existing shocks are working fine do nothing and save the $$$. You can always pick up almost-new take offs in the future when you need them. No need to spend money now, unless it’s burning a hole in your pocket.

If you truck’s shocks are worn out/failing then by all means go for it.

Oh there will be some mods all right
It definitely would ride better on road at the cost of being worse when hitting large bumps and pot holes whether on or off road. Also have to determine if body roll and brake dive are things that would bother you as the 6112/5160s are far better in that aspect.
