If anyone remembers my "everything I own is broken" post, you can add my lawnmower partially to that list. After reaching maturity, it now identifies as a standard push mower instead of self propelled. Little plastic gears go boom...

Was it the ring gear inside the wheel?

Not a fan of Honda mowers. They're clumsy, typically have needlessly complicated controls and aren't usually very maneuverable.

Honda engines on someone's deck I could probably live with.

I'll take a Toro and Troy-Bilt over a Hondud any day.

This one is the newer redesigned models. Much more maneuverable and simple compared to other versions.

Only Toro I could get locally at the time had a Briggs engine and those are a no go for me...

I would be more in favor of that option really.

@Plain Jane Taco the casing broke and a bunch of little plastic pieces came out/poked out so I have no idea. At least it free wheels still?

I did say it identifies as such now, thank you for using its preferred terms!

I would have to see a pic. But typically the drive gear is metal and the ring gear inside the wheel is plastic. The plastic almost always loses the battle to the metal. Drive wheels are plentiful on the ol' interwebs.

Is it FWD or RWD? And what brand?

It's a craftsman, rwd, and it's old enough/broke enough that I've cut it off from the bank account. Except for when it needs a drink that is... the search for a half okay used riding mower has begun.

Too bad you're so far away. I could hook you up with my old 30" Craftsman rear engine rider. It does need a new camshaft due to the compression release has failed, but does start, we just put a bigger CCA battery in it. Those Briggs camshafts are on back order till November at the earliest... o_O

Then it's probably a rebadged Husqvarna/AYP. Parts are available. But I understand ya gotta draw the line somewhere
