Gotcha. I knew they did something with axles and a lot of people like them. Refurbished oem makes sense. Pretty sure they will make custom stuff as well like extended length for LT but not 100%

 

100% id take refurb oem over new china even if its double cost. get what you pay for.

 

South of Tacoma (Graham area) has lots of junk yards & picknpull places. Gen3 half shafts are the same. Just pick some from a stock (not lifted) tacos for cheap

 

so dont pick from bracket lifters like me?

naa. bracket lift should be fine. the point of those is to keep the diff/axles at stock angles

 

The problem with used from a junkyard is that there is too much of a chance that you will get axles that have cuts in the boots or have been otherwise damaged in the removal process and the issues don't show up until AFTER the fact you have installed them. I am currently dealing with this exact issue currently as the one I got which was supposed to have 30K on it (2017) has a hole somewhere in the boot and is flinging grease (yet again ) and it has irritated me to no wits end. One side was COMPLETELY wrong as it doesn't fit and is mislabeled terribly. So now I have to see what I can do about getting them back to the place where I got them from.

CVJ’s are solid OEM but their boots are junk!!

 

Seriously, it takes one c clip to pull the tri pod then you slide on new boots. The axles don’t just go bad. Just use factory boot kit. 10 mins and flawless boots!!

I had it happen (non stock but after I initial put it on) It was slightly off and almost walked off. I added some washers to shim it out and its been perfect ever since.

They have all sorts of version for LT. I have heard mixed results with CVJ. Def don't bother with any of the extended boots or other things they offer but OEM. I have seen some people compare theirs to OEM and have been different so unsure that kept me from going from CVJ. I considered RCV but keep going back and forth having that be stronger than the Diff. etc.

 

It’s a really popular method used on a lot of sema builds.

Just moving the weak point around. I had all the gears, add tube and everything rem polished and cryo treated when I did my regear and front locker. Hoping that along with smart driving will keep everything together for a while. Although keeping the truck on Jack stands is probably the best mod for keeping things from breaking.

 

Don't say that after just having camshafts installed.

But if you do sell... I'll buy your fuel rails from you.

@12TRDTacoma I've been meaning to ask... I didn't think you had huge suspension mods, why do you have CV boot issues?

 

I didn't have walking, but I had issues with belts fraying and then snapping. Some of you probably remember. I added some spacers here and there to align the pulleys better, that seems to have helped a lot.
