Back when I lived in Alaska, having a paved driveway was a sure sign of people with too much money.

I did find out I have a gas line in front of the house. May look into getting a meter put in for some gas logs vs using a propane setup.

I've googled this question, but there seem to be a bunch of different answers. And, the answer I think might be correct isn't even mentioned. I'm going to replace my gas range with an induction model. What size breaker, wire and plug do y'all have for your electric ranges?

The range that has caught my eye will pull up to 48 amps and looks something like this.

Do you cook much? Ever try to make an omelet on an electric stove? I'd keep the gas range if I were you. I've got electric and I hate it especially when food boils over and I've got to clean it up with a razor blade and glass cleaner.

I cook all the time. Induction blows away both gas and electric. And I was a skeptic.

What brand cooktop are you using? I need to upgrade to something newer/better.

LG. It's 3 years old now and I have zero regrets about going induction. OK. Maybe one small one. Cast iron doesn't work well with it because of the ridges on the bottom of the pot. Induction is magnet driven so you need a flat bottom magnetic cook set.

It boils water faster then gas. It is just like gas in that as soon as you turn the heat up or down it's instant. Or very close to it. Unlike gas ranges it's easy to clean because of the flat ceramic top. Unlike electric ranges you can touch the surface seconds after removing a pan. Like I said, I was a skeptic about how "great" induction is, until I tried one.

What's the word I should have used the, Mother?! :D
If you know the make and model, you can usually pull up the owner's/installation manual and check that.

    I remember that one.
I make omelets every weekend for me and my boys on an electric stove without issues.

Earplugs it is! Replacement glass panel from Lowe’s is $250, I need two. Local companies don’t want to work on them because they’re not their doors. $550 for glass inserts or $800 for new doors, or just deal with a little fogging and no insulating properties? Maybe the wife wins this battle!

With the same information, I'd likely make the same choice.

Did you say that the seals were blown on the glass? How important is the insulation value to you?

To me? A lot, cause if it’s broke I want to fix it. But that’s my OCD kicking in! I’ll let it ride for now and see what’s happens this winter. The heating/cooling bill has not changed according to my wife.

What time's breakfast? :hungry: I should have clarified. My electric range/oven is really old and has a mind of its own when it comes to temperature. That's why I'm in the market for a new one.

Home Depot electric wiring department looks like a leaking and full sewage pump truck head on accident with a garbage truck at 70 mph. Shit everywhere. Takes me 30 minutes to pick up 3-4 items.

Lowe's is the same way. There's 4 Lowe's within 30 minutes of here and it looks like a tornader rolled through. There's one near work that I'll go in before work (saving gas yo) that is the oldest store, yet has alot more electrical stuff. Was nice when I was gathering stuff for my new panel install, and then later wiring the garage. Although it took three different ones to find a 50' roll of #bare copper. We had to pick up a couple things to re-wire and add a new fan to a friends bathroom and the Lowe's nearest to us was pretty lacking...
