39922 on the original Toyo tires, I was planning on new ones in March but that didn't work out.

I drove it home a few times during the mud season, even if I go the longest way there is still some dirt road to travel.

Yea I'm spoiled, I live on a main road, so no muddin' for me. Now when the farms start tracking all the stuff on the roads it gets kinda soupy; I got to rinse it all off the next morning...

Okay Knowers of Stuff and Fixers of Things(TM)... a long shot, but hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. One of the things that we have at old engine & tractor club is this early 30s Junkers two cycle, two piston, single-cylinder diesel engine.

It was having some starting issues, and we determined that the high-pressure fuel pump doesn't seem to be pumping. We pulled the fuel-pump/governor assembly out of it, which is an extremely complex mechanism (typical German design; why use four bolts when 14 will do?).

The red circle is the fuel-pump push-rod, which is acted on by a cam & follower beneath (Indicated by red line in image above). It appears to be a cartridge, held in my two screws, and I'm guessing it's a fairly standard Bosch-type design, BUT... we have NO information on this, and there's virtually nothing on-line that we've found, other than a few documents in German, which we haven't had any luck in getting translated...

This is the upper side of the governor/fuel-pump block. The yellow circle is the output to the injector, and the red is where the fuel filter is located.

This is the only information on the engine

Anyone seen anything like this? Any suggestions on tackling the fuel pump? Without any sort of manual or even diagram, I'm hesitant to start taking things apart willy-nilly...

You reckon you could take the rod/cartridge out and see if the shaft has wear on it or any o-rings are tired and need replacing?

Got a similar bugaboo at work right now. Large obsolete valve actuator but it’s in the right position RN so I’m not touchin’ it till fall. About 2 weeks from now.

I'm admitting defeat early on this one.
The only diesels I have (academic) knowledge of are 2 stroke Detroits, I have a 3-53 around here somewhere.

I think we're going to have to, but this thing is so friggin' complicated that I'm a little hesitant. The tolerances and quality are amazing. It took two of us about an hour to get that pump/governor assembly out of the main unit just because of the tight tolerances. There are four dowel pins that must be about a .0005 or less fit!

I'm pretty comfortable with run of the mill diesels. I know my way around a Detroit 4/6/8-71 as well as Gardner-Denver, GM and some more esoteric models like Witte, but this one is a beast of an entirely different colour!

I had a large hot glob fall off in my belly button while welding under a vehicle once, my first instinct was to roll off the creeper which made it roll down my stomach. It was bad

For only a few weeks in, I think he's doing surprisingly well. Should be a good fit. :)
