I’m glad you posted your pics. This is the exact lift sizes and tire size I’m considering. Again, it looks great.

 

I have seen a few folks ask this question, but no real responses it appears.

About to stick a bumper/winch combo on (150lbs +/- total) and starting to think I may need to go to a heavier spring like OME 888 or 886. Curious if anyone has done this with the TRD Shocks?

Not that I’ve seen. I think you are better off going with 5100s and OMEs if weight matching is your need. Good luck!

 

Thanks. To be clear, I already have the TRD Lift installed on the truck. Since most seem to agree the TRD Shocks appear to be re-badged and/or re-tuned 5100's, not sure it's worth making that change. Although the 5100's do have 2 additional spring perch adjustments I guess.

 

When paring 5100s with OME springs you use the bottom setting, so the amount of settings really doesn’t have any bearing as the lift amount comes from the spring selection.

I bet you could do the same with the TRDs, but I do not believe I’ve seen anyone report they’ve done it and I’ve been in this thread for a long time. You could always be the first!

 

I believe most people drop down to the lowest notch on 5100's when using the OME springs. You're essentially missing the lowest two notches having the TRD shocks vs. the 5100's. I don't know if I would want to run those springs on the lowest setting of the TRD's, considering you're already an inch above the low setting of the 5100. Maybe someone has done it though?

 

I want to do the factory lift. just got a price of 2800. from dealer . would also like a bigger wheel and tire say a 17. I do not want any rub at all. i would like the tires to stick out a little no more than a inch (i think).
I have been reading this thread but there is alot of info and I need to do this in a time frame. and take to dealer. they said they only had 16s to fit my vehicle, and no matte black rims. I also dont want heavy rims. so which of you have done this and it works and looks great?

 

Agreed. I have 265/70r17s on the Sema pro wheels and the wider stance from stock really adds to the look of the truck. I'm considering the 6112/5160 suspension, maybe 1"/0" or 1.5/1" lift.

 

You want 0 or negative offset wheels to get that poke, or use spacers. Lots of ppl around here use FN or method or TRD Pro wheels

I have this TRD Lift Kit and I run Trd pro 4 runner wheels on mine, which are 17x7 +4mm offset. And I went with 275/70/17 falken wildpeak at3w tires. No rub at all. Little bit of poke. Happy customer

How do you like those tires? What’s the road noise like? Did they effect gas mileage as compared to stock tires?

 

Road noise isn't bad at all, or maybe im just used to it by now idk. My gas milage took a hit because the tires are heavier and I upgraded the wheels from 16" to 17". Bigger wheels and tires usually affects gas mileage and speedometer. Trade off is my truck looks better and actually feels like a truck again. I ran 275s on my last truck which was a Nissan Titan

Main reason I went 275/70/17 Falken wp at3w was because they seem to do better in the rain than ko2s based on feedback from friends and potentially bias reviews I read online. It rains alot in Oregon and I have zero complaints thus far

 

265/70/17 SL Toyo AT2s and 4Runner pro wheels weigh less than the factory set up. Just because the rims are 17 inch doesn't mean they are heavier. 275s should make the speedometer off slightly but with 265/70/17 its perfect. Make sure you don't get E rated tires as it will kill your power,mileage and ride like crap. 265s are perfect with a small lift.

 

I just had 6112/5160's installed (replaced OEM shocks). Had it lifted an inch just for shits & giggles (4/3 settings in front and a 1 inch block in back to keep the rake). Mine is a daily driver, mostly highway miles with the occasional weekend trail roads for hunting/fishing, etc. No extra weight to speak of. The on-road handling is NOTICEABLY better now. No more bouncing over bumps and ANY road imperfections. no more body roll through turns, no more nose dive when braking. It's so much more of a 'plush' ride...Hardly feel any of the normal road bumps anymore. Just a much more 'planted' feeling with a MUCH smoother ride. Wish I would have done this a year ago! Couple this suspension with the 'tune' I did last year and this thing is actually fun to drive now!!

I was about $1700.00 all in for parts, install w/ initial align and a f/u align in another 1K miles...

 

ok so. Toyota lift kit, changing to TRD Pro wheels 17" for a 4runner and 4 cooper at3 265/70/17 tires installed with tax $5500.00

I've had two trucks at stock height with the 17" Pro wheels and 265/70r17 Wildpeaks and neither impacted my mileage. Average maybe 21-22 MPG with both trucks. Being stock height and SL load rated probably helps a ton. SL rated tires are much lighter and softer riding. If you aren't towing anything huge or extreme rock crawling, I'd go SL rated.

 

In Oregon, I paid:

$2400 for my TRD Lift kit
$1000 for x4 Falken WP At3W tired
$660 for x4 TRD Pro T4R wheels Matte black
$50 for black lug nuts

Don't buy wheels and tires from the dealership. Bought my wheels off bamwholesale and tires from Discount tire. Sold my stock take offs to offset some of the cost

 

and no rubbing??
