Looking for some advice. My truck has a squeak at slower speeds and I'm fairly certain it's the u-joints. The warranty explicitly covers u-joints as part of the drivetrain (truck has 37k miles). I off-road frequently and am skeptical Toyota would cover it.

Is there a SD dealership that would be friendly to this problem? If that approach is a hassle, is this something a good mechanic could knock out quickly? Recomendations?

Take it back to the Dealer where you purchased it and don't give them any information other than "it squeaks" while under warranty.

Took the advice suggested and brought it to the closest dealer (who I previously didn't care for). Naturally no squeak when I dropped it off. They were able to reproduce on the lift and are going to replace the entire driveshaft under the powertrain warranty (37k miles). Unfortunately the shaft won't arrive for a week.

Should I go camping with a loud but intermittent squeak? I'm getting cabin fever ...

Ask the shop if it's ok to drive on your camping trip. You don't want to damage anything else and have it not covered? Good for you!

Ah, good Ol-Reddit, that place has become a cesspool of groupthink, but still has a lot of cool posts. But boy have the comments become ridiculous...

But who in the hell keeps driving at that speed missing a wheel!!? Eventually that thing is gonna burn to the ground once the fluids start catching fire. I'm really starting to think that all common sense has been stolen from people's mind's somehow.

    Happy Friday brother!

I'm looking forward to going for a nice long ride this weekend. Sold the XSR700 and picked up a used BMW S1000RR...what a blast.

Never even heard of Lake Domingo. Looks like a fun adventure. Looks like the approach is from the west near the railroad tracks. Record tracks for if you make it. When do you plan on going?

Sorry just saw this! Me neither, I came across it while looking for new random trails in our back yard and thought it looked interesting. The old rail system is definitely a bonus.

Whenever we get free time and we figure out a plan of attack. Maybe in the next week or so? I'm trying not to end up on some psychos property and find myself staring down the barrel of shotgun lol. You know, trying to keep it respectful lol

I asked a Border Patrol friend that used to work at the Campo station about the lake and access to it. He remembers the area well but, as I suspected, he went wherever he wanted and didn't know what was private and what was public.
If you don't mind company, I am willing to join you. I’m retired and can go anytime, except I have commitments M-W this week.

Absolutely, the girlfriend and I always welcome good company! Especially TW company.

As long as our chosen route doesn't get crazy technical for the prerunner, we're good to go.

Ya, the dates I chose are random and can be moved around no problem. If I had to pick a day of the week it'll probably be Mondays or Tuesdays.

Unfortunately, a few family members just popped positive for COVID this morning. All my spare time will be consumed by taking care of some things for them this week. I might have to wait to till after the 1st to make any plans.

I'll keep you posted when we figure out a solid time
