Nothing jumped out at me. I have the saws. I want the shooting plane but I'm not ready to commit to that kind of price yet.

Can somebody coach me on how to clamp a 60 degree miter?

is it as simple as clamping a jig to get a parallel force to get 90?

If you still have the offcuts, you can flip them around for the complimentary angle. Check out this video around the 5min 30 second mark for about 2 minutes for a visual.

Mod list... Well, my paint is factory.
What material? If it's hardwood you can use CA to glue some plywood blocks to it. Clamp them up and then knock the plywood off after. The veneer from the plywood will stick to the hardwood and you just sand it off to clean it up.

I am building a hexagon wedding arch using East Texas cedar. I'm joining 2 boards, each with a 60 degree cut from a plan that I bought off of etsy (Don't judge, I'm new to this and really bad at math)

My solution was to build a jig utilizing block clamps as others mentioned to get a parallel force through the middle of each of the boards; if they're joining together each 60 degrees, i just need to figure out what angle to cut the block at to get that force through the middle. Pics below if it helps

Glued end grain is not very strong. Metal straps or plywood gussets across the joins would strengthen it. And it would be easier to assemble and disassemble

You can use the blue tape super glue method to attach them.

I use blue tape and super glue constantly. It is a amazingly effective trick.

After seeing actual force testing end grain gluing is actually as strong as the wood.
Edge and face grain gluing is stronger than the wood.
End grain with a spline adds a amount of face and edge grain to the glue joint.
It is a very effective method of gluing end grain.

i would make a simple splined miter at the angle. Just make it 1.5"-2" then you can glue and screw into the spline. On the flat side if that makes sense

Dado or router with table you can do it. Basically run the angled piece on the table. Depends what tools you have or you could dowel it also. What thickness are the boards

A good trick I use for end grain gluing that I use is to coat the endgrain in glue (both ends) and let it set for 5 minutes. The glue will get pulled into the grain and also start to set slightly. Then add additional glue and clamp. I use this on picture frames even when I spline them. I also like to shoot a few 23 gage pins in for additional support.

I like to use contrasting woods when I do that. It's a great look.

Or make a template piece like this. Then screw from front, fill screw heads with sandable putty
