Copper and stainless are the new things to be out of everywhere.

 

What really threw me off was the 250' rolls of 14/2, 12/2, and 10/2 locked up at first. Ok, I sorta get it. But, then they daisy chain locked up ALL the wire. I had to wait almost 15 minutes before someone would unlock the 50' roll of bare copper

Finished laying the floor today:


That mitered boarder was… something else. Probably won’t do that again. I think the picture explains my proposed layout a little better. The base cabinets will go along the back wall, so the herringbone is centered offset from where the cabinets will be. Said another way — it’s centered on what will be the final visible floor.

Anyway, sanding in the morning (soooo much sanding) and maybe get to finish it Saturday? We’ll see. I’ve got cotton white Rubio monocoat I can apply pretty quickly and just be done with it. Then it’s on to drywall repair, paint, and finishing up the base cabinets for the back wall!

 

My home improvement today. Tried to mount a TP holder in the guest half bath. Obviously, I don't know how to mount CRAP into this plaster. Don't ask HOW it turned out like this, just understand that I walked away without throwing the toilet thru the window....

 

Smh...some people's children...

I believe it. I can't source certain diameters and thread pitches of stainless fasteners.

I wish I could those, or really anything I'm used to having lived my entire adult life in houses with sheet rock. This place is concrete block covered with plaster. A real PITA to drill into. Random rebar, inconsistent thickness...and as you can see in the pic, LAYERS of plaster.

 

That *SUUUUUCKS* I have a block house but it is still framed inside with drywall hung even on the interior of the exterior walls.

If you have a little hammer drill I'd try using just regular tap cons into the block, crushing/expansion anchors always are dildoes in my experience.

Screw type, zip togglers, occasionally the plastic split style of small light things, but never metal expansion.

Only except is wedge anchors in solid reinforced slab but even then I prefer chem anchor.

 

All better options than I tried. Gave my dad in law a good laugh and he called me an idiot for not drilling a hole and inserting a wooden dowel, "like a normal guy". Live and learn. Good thing labor is fairly cheap down here, because the LAST thing I'm gonna do is try to patch that, lol

 

Almost done. Added two more circuits. Everything works so far lights, alarm, door. Just cut a few more panels. The free cable there will be for outlets on my bench.

 

I had an old school glass cook top with the glowing red coils and everything you said is true. Now I have gas and it rates on a scale of 1 to 10 a 5.1, old school electric flat top 4.9. It's honestly a race to see which one is more of a PITA to clean. Also the gas heats up the kitchen way more than the old electric stove.

OK, that is the answer I thought was correct, but I see no mention of it on the interwebs. Also all I find are references to a NEMA 14-50 plug. Isn't a range considered a continuous load? That would require 60 amp service to support a 48 amp continuous load.

40a minimum for a range other than that it’s up to you to interpret.

 

i would not use those type of anchors if you're drilling into. What are you using to drill into the wall?
Go get Tapcon masonary screws theyre way better to mount things in concrete. Make sure you get the right sized screw for your TP holder. The hex heads may not work but they do sell flathead screws

 

I wish I could use those because I wish I had sheetrock like I'm used to. The issue I run into is that there are layers of plaster, random thickness as well as rebars and metal plates and straps dispersed thru the walls. It's a show.
