If I may be so bold, what happened to cause it to snap?

You know torque on those things is only like 10-15 lb-ft usually. Leave the gorilla on the bench next time. ;)

Sure it's late in the game, but this isn't the first time I've mentioned my trip to Maine in a couple of weeks. There's still room for a truck or two to join us, if anyone can swing it: https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/27029433

I was switching to the fumoto drain plug and didn't realize their torque specs are much lower than the stock drain plug bolt (15 vs 30 lb ft). Probably shouldn't have done it after such a long day. I also lost one of my 10mm sockets soo it's been that kind of day.

Yikes. Don't worry about the 10mm socket. They go on occasional migrations during mating season. They always return and sometimes bring along a friend.

Sunday to Friday, most days are drills in the AM and riding PM. Also wife and kids say the Memphremagog Trails in Newport are shaping up nicely, worth checking out if you’re at the Louis Garneau outlet (or vice versa).

Wait, that thing has a torque spec? I just threw it on, tightened as hard as I could by hand, then quarter turned it with a wrench. I swear I read that somewhere.
I dunno about that, I think they just go on a journey to rediscover themselves. That's why I ended up buying a whole set of different style 10mm, lol.

    Haha that made my day.

Apparently it does. Only found out after I went and searched their site. I also just found the instructions included are on the inside of the cardboard top to the bag. I just cut the bag open and didn't notice there were any.

Sorry it's upside. Don't care to flip it, but I'll take the loss for not reading. At least I got it out and I'll just get a new one in another 5k miles

I just tighten to where I think it won't come out. :spy:

I grew up next to Haverhill and drove over the Piscataqua. I moved to Maine and met people from Mattawamkeag and Madawaska.

That still took me way too long to figure out that one.

I tend to think of drain plugs and spark plugs as tighten to an ugga, leave off the dugga.

We haven't been up to Newport this season and I know there's some new stuff, but what I saw last summer gave me some good vibes, there's a ton of potential and a decent start.

That's fair. I do tend to make sure I use the small ratchet for things like that so I'm less likely to over-tighten. But alas, no more spark plugs for me!

I don't change automobile spark plugs any longer, but when I was taught to do it as a kid it was put them in finger tight and then just snug them up a bit. That way you avoid cross threading the head. That was in the days of cast iron heads, and it's even more important with an aluminum head engine. When I do a snow blower or lawn mower, I still do it that way. Make sure it spins in easily with just the socket and an extension, then once it's seated put the ratchet on and snug it up.

There’s some stuff that wasn’t there last summer, my wife did this loop and all the trail past the big clear-cut (upper right) is new, and now connects to the lower for a loop?092E1CCA-91B4-4128-AB1B-6013664389A1.jpg
