I have a question for all you "Old" people like myself. I suffer from Glaucoma, and was wondering if any of you that also deal with this ailment have issues with blurry vision. I've had the laser surgery done on both eyes to reduce my pressures, and that's working great. I can't sleep on my back because of my spinal fusion, and flip back and forth on my sides during the night. I have days when I wake up my vision is blurry as crap, and I can hardly read anything on my computer, and even have a hard time reading closed caption on my tv. It varies from right to left eye, and sometimes both. It goes away on it's own after a couple of hours, but just wondering if any of you have this same or similar problem.

I've encountered blurry vision for two reason, the first and most devastating was from cataracts; I had both of my eyes done in the first half of my 50s as I went utterly and completely blind in my right eye and then mostly blind in my left eye three years later. The second reason was due to allergies, some mornings I wake up like you, unable to see anything in fine detail; after a few hours I can blink away all of the crap in my eyes and my vision returns to normal.

David, I can’t really help you with this as I do not have glaucoma but I know some about the disease including cause, symptoms, treatment. Blurry vision and intermittent blurry vision is a typical symptom of glaucoma. In your case there may be other factors affecting your vision. You really need to consult with your ophthalmologist to see what can be done and determine if perhaps other eye disease may be involved and to determine treatment if any. If not satisfied with his/her assessment then see another doctor for a second opinion.
If you want the best opinion and possible treatment options then go to a university hospital for consultation. I say that because university hospitals are cutting edge. They have the most up to date advanced knowledge and treatment on the planet. Far beyond that of the average physician. They have treatment options your ophthalmologist may never have even heard of. This goes for all complex rare and common diseases from cancer to cardiovascular disease and everything in between.
Sorry I’m not able to exactly answer your question but hopefully this information can lead you in the right direction to get this thing figured out and maybe get sight saving treatment.

Are you sure you are not prepping the Tacoma for some 1/4 mile runs? :D

Yesterday was long, left home at 5:45 am and got back home at 8:30 pm. Was not a bad day and I know I can do the next 3 shifts, Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.

Rested in till 8:30 this morning and putzed around. Going out for dinner and music this afternoon.

Ugh, yesterday I was informed by a Sports Medicine doctor I've developed "Osgood-Schlatter disease" late in life (ordinarily reserved for boys between 10 and 15 years old experiencing an explosive growth spurt). Apparently mine was triggered by constantly banging my left knee on a change drawer to the left of the steering wheel of a car I had about 10 years ago; for 18-months I'd bang my knee on the drawer handle and then finally my knee got real sore, I finally forcibly ripped the drawer out of the dashboard and the issue gradually resolved itself.

Now, over 8 years later I was crawling under my desk about 10-days ago and apparently fractured the calcium growth which both surrounds the patella tendon and has insinuated itself into the tendon; subsequent trail runs have just exacerbated the issue which in turn pushed me to seek a medical evaluation. Long story short, my doctor has me almost completely non-weight bearing for the next ten days, and possibly longer based upon how well I recover. I guess the annual 10-Mile end of summer race around a local lake is going to get skipped for yet another year. :(

:pccoffee:  Hi ho there sixtys &c. Although it is actually a good bit past coffee time here. I've been doing chores in this abominable humidity. Yesterday I went up and cleaned the rain gutter on the house; I was suspicious of a catbird I had seen hanging around at one end of the gutter, and sure enough:

    IMG_1198.jpg

It's out past the downspout so I am leaving it there. Darnedest place for a nest though!

Today I did some trimming outside, until I got tired of mopping my brow every 5 seconds. Now I'm changing the oil in the hydrostatic drives on the mower. Not a hard job, just a lot of fussing. I'm glad for the garage but wish I had a way to get the thing up in the air further.

I am familiar with Osgood-Sclatter desease. When I was 14 or 15 I spent weeks on crutches (which I ditched anytime mom wasn’t looking) and then months in a hip-to-heel cast to allow the bones to fuse. Almost 50 years later: ABED874A-2043-4EDB-8EB6-F8C771804016.jpg

Covid update - it’s been 3 weeks since wifey and I got Covid. We are finally symptom free except for an occasional nagging cough. Finally tested negative both of us. The whole thing was like having a nasty cold. No more isolation. We are going out tonight for a nice dinner (and maybe a glass of wine). Life is good again.

I did the exhaust on my CJ 7 10 years ago. Never again. I figure no one would ever see the Welds and that didn’t bother me. I’m not a horrible welder it was the climbing under that Jeep and back that killed me!

Do you ever experience any pain in the area? Once I got over the initial case when I was 57 I have been pain free until last week when I cracked the calcification.

Side note: My doctor asked a bunch of his peers and they all agreed this is the first case of Osgood-Schlatter they've seen where the initial onset presented in an older adult. Just my freakin' luck. :p

Nope, no pain unless I kneel and pressure is applied the the lump. When I was in my early 20’s I was going to have surgery to remove it and some garbage that formed behind the knee but I canceled it and I really haven’t been much worse for wear.

Thanks @Kevins60, my doctor suggested because of how active I am, if this doesn't heal up over the next month or two, there is a new(ish) procedure to surgically go in and remove the calcification; I'll seriously consider it if I'm still in pain this fall (winter time trail running here in New England can be a challenge, so that's the best time for a break).
