Did we talk about the Blue Stamp competitor to S&H?

I don’t remember what state it was, but we moved there and they had blue stamps instead of green stamps. It happened when I was a kid so it might’ve been Kentucky or New York or Ohio or California… So many places…

This might be exclusively a New York City thing but the "Grinder" truck would come around once a week. He rang a bell like the ice cream man and you would bring your knives out to be sharpened for $2.

In California we had both green stamps and Blue Chip Stamps. Almost every business gave stamps with purchases. I remember gas stations use to on occasion give 10 times stamps . In my first apartment I used books of green and blue chip stamps to buy most of my appliances and some of my furniture.

Now you simply use your store "loyalty" card, or a credit card that gets you points or cash-back you can use to "buy" things...
I think my folks traded in their stamps for a plethora of folding chairs back in the late 60's / early 70's when they started to be phased out / the public lost favor.

Me three... The internet is forever. Why would I want to give up privacy like that?
I will admit I have accounts for other topical / specialty message boards, but never had a social media account ala FB, Twitter, Instagram, TT, etc..

I have a fb account but don’t post anything on it. An occasional like is about it. I too am signed up for other private speciality boards involving hunting, fishing, guns. The major thing I no longer use is the google search engine. They keep a record of every single search you’ve ever done and lots more. I use DuckDuckGo. They promote privacy and prevent tracking. They do not data mine like google.

I have a FB account but don't have any friends and don't look at what people put on it. All I use it for is to search marketplace.

I have Facebook. I'm usually using it to post Star Wars, music, and cats. To each thine own but I don't feel the need to proclaim what I had for lunch.

It definitely helps with fangroups like some said. I went to a Misfits reunion concert in 2019 and hit a meetup with people from all over the USA and Canada.

I have a lot of "friends", mostly bc I use it to network for my second job. Free advertising.
