I just got my license plates and for the first time noticed I have no holes in my front bumper to attach my front plates. There are 2 little dimples where the holes should go but I just cant bring myself to drill holes in my bumper (not to mention the fact that it is 7 degrees out right now and I don't want the plastic to crack). I think I will roll around with just a rear plate until the cops harass me about it. Is this the case on all Tacomas?

just place some self tapping screws where those dimples are...should be fine, it's what the dealer would use anyways

I'm pretty sure they all have dimples. Atleast, when I was shopping for mine (07)- they all had it.

My 09 was the same way, untill we sat down to do the paperwork and they took the taco to the back to detail it. I even asked my salesman to make sure they dont drill the dimples out. When the porter brought the car to the front, sure enough there was a dealer plate on the bumper. I was furious, not because my bumper had holes in them, but because I asked them not to and they still did it.

My 2005 Tacoma did not have holes. In Georgia we do not have two plates. Only the rear plate.

Mine didn't come with holes, no dealer plates or stickers either :D.
We don't get stopped for no front plates here.
I don't see any dimples either .

    Just the basics
I was adamant that no holes would be drilled for a front bumper. Don't drill it out. If you have to have a plate up there get a bracket that mounts some other way or make one.

Contact the Dearler. Mine said they had everything necessary to mount the front plate when I picked my Taco up.

Mine had dimples when I got it. Alabama has only rear plates, but I drilled into them anyway to mount my UA plate. Then I was hit in a parking lot. When I had her insurance pay for the bumper re-paint, I asked that they fill and smooth the dimples. I now have no holes and no dimples... but am starting to miss my 'A' license plate! Oh the indecision!

I would be very interested if anybody has found/created a bracket that attaches w/o drilling into the bumper.

I can't bring myself to drilling holes in my front bumper either...for all the past vehicles i've had. So when i went to pick up the taco....i brought the plates and they went and pjut them on for me.....if i don't see them drill the holes i feel better baout myself

Dealer did first set then I smashed my bumper so body shop did second set. I put 3M foam tape behind the plate so it does not to burn a spot on the paint. It works well except for my smashing :D

If its VT registered you need a DMV plate on the front LEO will pull you over unfortunately and to get annual inspection. Just the way it is here.

Where I live in Colorado we have no annual inspection, no smog check, no nuthin', they don't even look at a new vehicle when you register it. I am going to roll around with no front plate till the cops give me hard time about it. Anyone care to wager how long I can get away with having no front plate??

California is a "two-plate state", we're supposed to have both license plates on. Not only did my '09 come with the front frame attached, I was obliged at the dealer to sign a statement that I had indeed received the front plate frame! That's how far CYA has come here...
