Do you have the V6 or the 2.7L 4 cylinder?

Don't replace the cat, just brazen it out. Have your vehicle commander protruding from the open cupola, and pretend you are the lead panzer in an armored spearhead.

It arrived when I was coming back from work, jumped straight to install it. It took 30 minutes to install without lifting the truck, I recommend jacking it up to make it a bit easier. I had to lower my TRD skid plate to install the cat shield. I also added a dab of rtv on the security bolt heads to make it even more of a pain if the would be thieves happen to have the right bits. Highly doubt they will even try to steal my cats. (I have 8 cctv cameras and 3 ring cameras around my house as well)

I did. They're covering everything minus the $500 deductible... on the bright side, I ended up with a '21 Tacoma SR5 as my rental
    the 4 cylinder.

I see an O2 sensor in the second photo, so I think the first cat might still be there, but obviously the second smaller one is gone. Correct me if I'm wrong. I have the 4 cylinder too...I'll look at mine in the morning for reference. Nonetheless these thieves need to be stopped. What a terrible thing to do.

    Fucking tweakers!

    That sucks, @redsox1804 !

Why do scrap yards keep giving money to these fuckheads? Unless someone works for a muffler shop, there's no reason they should be scrapping catalytic converters with any sort of regularity.

Meanwhile, I have to show ID to turn in scrap copper.

I wouldn't make a habit of it but yes you can. They used to run fire trucks decades ago straight piped. I would suggest you get a shop to weld a straight pipe in the space used by the cat if you need to drive it while waiting. Otherwise, avoid the cops as they'll likely ticket you for the noise. Oh, and you won't make any friends in the neighborhood either. They'll likely forgive you if you're driving it to the shop to get fixed or if an emergency comes up and must drive it (like going to the emergency room).

I just looked at my 2022 4 cylinder, and yes that cut was just in front of the main cat. I don't see a photo of where they did the second cut...did they also take the second cat that is smaller and about 12" behind the first one? Rotten bastards.

It’s in the shop now so I’m not 100% sure because I can’t see it, but pretty sure they did

I picked up my 2022 SR access cab four-cylinder about three weeks ago. I did order mine through the dealership (Millercat). I got a small discount on it. They charged $150 for the labor. The install looked pretty simple but I chose to have the dealer install it for the convenience and desire to get on the truck right away.

Did the dealer give you the MillerCat keys for the screws? At some point you may have to remove the shield for maintenance.

who'd think you are gonna need to invest in a shield to defend your catalytic converter... what the hell happened to the world.

They got me last night in my complex. I hate thieves. I can do it myself but the replacement is more than my deductible so just going to call the gecko. Perfect opportunity for some headers and new can but California. Looking for a security shield and getting installed when the replacement is done.
