What are you spraying permethrin on exactly? I spray a good bit, but I work at a lawn and pest control place lol spittle bugs have been giving me fits for the last month but they just tear up zoysia, centipede, and st Augustine... Not people

I always soak/spray ALL of my hunting clothes, boots, packs, etc, including base layers (outside of undies lol). I buy permethrin concentrate and mix an appropriate solution. Done properly, its completely fine for skin exposure. Hikers have sworn by it for years for their clothing/gear. Its awesome because it lasts a handful of wash cycles. I soak all of my clothing about 2 weeks before season open and air dry outside until season starts. People are always concerned about the odor, and some will swear it doesn't leave an odor, but it does. That being said, the deer in my freezer never seemed to mind it.

Last year, I upgraded some items mid season and didn't want to do a full soak, so I just mixed the appropriate amount of permethrin in with a bottle of scent killer lol This will honestly probably be my new preferred method for my spray items like backpack/boots/fabric type gear that I don't soak in solution.

Sawyer makes an easy store bought permethrin solution, and is pretty much the standard. But its pricey; which is why I recommend just buying a 10% concentrate and making your own solution by diluting it with water. I spray my boat cover with it a couple times a year too. I'm convinced its helped keep wasps and ants from making home in my boat.

Sounds like you use your boat as more than a yard ornament :anonymous: I never really had too many problems, but parking my boat in the grass, under trees, ants end up checking it out every now and then lol. I definitely wouldn't say this is THE product to combat ants/wasps in a parked boat, but spraying the cover seems to help as far as I can tell.

Now I will say, the very reason I became a hardcore believer in permethrin was because I took a solo camping trip to the lake and woke up in the middle of the night to ants crawling all over me (in a freaking roof top tent).. I spent the remainder of that very early morning sitting in a lawn chair researching ways to NOT burn my tent to the ground. I came across permethrin being a popular item for hikers. Found out years later that hunters swore by it for ticks. I've been using it on all my camping/hunting/outdoorsy stuff since!

I gotcha. I kinda thought that but I was wondering if you might be treating your trails and stands lol. That stuff does have a pretty loud aroma.

1oz to 16oz of water into a spray bottle, shake well, spray on outer clothing, allow to air dry
