Lol. I will say this: If you can swing the cash at something with power steering you will be in love. All 4 of mine have it and I was grinning like an idiot within the first 10ft of driving one. It's like driving a car around on the lawn.

heres one for anyone. my neighbor has a double axle all aluminum trailer. huge. like hauls my truck. all aluminum but the axles need replaced. any suggestions? he thinks scrapping it is cheaper and easier than buying a new deal. i may offer if its not a bad idea. it needs new axles. is it a wash or a good buy and what would i source?

I'd buy it on the cheap and put 2 axles in it. That trailer is worth a lot of money. Lightweight lets you haul more weight without stressing the tow rig.

he wont spend 2k on nw axles. he said it was at least that. idk. its big enough to fit a full size 4dr chevy on it. where would i source axles? side note this guy knows his stuff so im cautious of trying to best the situation.

Replacing axles isn't overly difficult, but probably not necessary. Likely only a few things to go wrong with axles. One, it needs to have new bearings put in the hubs if there's something actually wrong with the axles this has a high probability. Two, it could also be that it needs new springs for the suspension, not new axles. Three, the brakes need to be replaced. All are relatively easy and can be done for a few hundred or less. The only reason I can think to actually replace the axles is if they are bent.

i dont think they are bent, but he had a reason for not pursuing it. hes a tech at a 4x4 shop and very savvy at fab to work. he wanted it to haul his tractor 500miles. maybe his excuse to buy new? ill find out more this weekend. seemed great for my wild random haul needs. my truck is s/c and has about 400hp at the tires so towing should be fine around town.

Start with Amazon, then google each of the parts you're looking at to see if there's a better place to purchase them.

This likely isn't the right axle for the trailer but in the ballpark.

Well, Aluminum trailers are nice and pricey. The weight savings over steel is significant.

think it had to do with brakes or bearings being odd and difficult to source. ill find out more this weekend.

That would be a great deal, but it is dependent on you being mechanically inclined enough to do the repairs yourself. If you are then by all means have at it. I'd probably try to start at 500, but 800 would likely still be a good price depending on what is actually wrong with it. Fixed it could be worth 2K maybe more, depending on size, features, and condition. A friend just bought a new 24' trailer with tandem 5200# axles. I think he paid 6K for it. That was a steel trailer, aluminum trailers can be 2-3K more. I paid 1500 for my 18' that needs work.

PS. I'd love to have an aluminum trailer because with my tractor and implements on it I'm maxed out for the weight. An aluminum trailer would save me a good bit of weight.
