I’ll probably pass but if I can get time I might be in for Thursday/Friday camping. We have a get together that Saturday night I can’t wiggle out of yet….

I’m hoping a worst case to make the fall Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail run!

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
At this moment, I'll plan on going up after work on Fri, possibly staying Sat night. We'll see how Aug plays out...

Um, as a new guy/rookie here, can someone fill me in on a few more details around this gathering? Need to check on dates, but this sounds like a good time. Camping details? Public, private, reservations? What to bring along? What to expect?

Camping will bear at Bearpaw. The campsites are first come first serve basis in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. I think @Thatbassguy posted a Google map link to the general area a few posts back. Can fit quiet a few trucks on a site, last time think we had 6 camping. The sites are very basic with a fire ring and picnic table. There is a pit toilet at the end of the road by the lake. So bring whatever you need for that kind of camping situation.

As for the trails you need no more then you and your truck. All the trails can be done in a stock Tacoma as @Pixeltim and @WiscoPat can attest. There are bypasses for the more technical obstacles if you don't feel comfortable tackling them.

It's just a great time with an excellent group of people. If you have any other questions you're just going to have to join us :D

Can confirm, stock suspension and tires on my Tacoma have been just fine - didn't take on challenging obstacles, but most of the sections can be done regardless. Varying terrain of sand, gravel, dirt, rocks, washboards, and possibly some water sections that are usually 2-4 feet deep.

I'd suggest the usual camping stuff to support yourself for what Jason described, as well as a shovel, water, and a way to air up your tires afterwards (i.e. a compressor). It's a good time!

Don't feel the need to run out and get a compressor your first time out. If you need to air up I have a compressor you can use. I think it's better to go out at least once and figure out what you actually need be before making an investment.

@jstemp Awesome, thanks for the details! I may be able to partake.

Are any of you guys sports car fans? Me and a buddy of mine have been going to Road America every August for 6 or 7 years for the IMSA Sportscar Weekend. We camp Thursday through Sunday and watch a lot of great racing and see some amazing vehicles, on the track, in the pits and also among the spectator parking! I'm not attempting to plan an official outing of any kind. Just wondering if others have attended or if I could get any Tacos and new friends to stop by our site. You don't have to be a race fan to enjoy the sounds and the smell of race fuel. If I can convince you to stop out, maybe I can be convinced to come up to Bearpaw. :D

I think I have a few things going on that weekend but I enjoy going to Road America. I'm In Sheboygan only about 20min away so getting together for a beer might work out.

It seems like @jstemp and @WiscoPat have you covered.

Bring whatever you need to camp and eat. As mentioned above anything related to recovery, etc will be available if needed.

Expect to have some great conversations with even better people. And, fun on the trails for any skill level.

I look forward to meeting you!

On a scale of 1 to 10, skill level would be 2-3, but I wanna learn. LOL! Truck is stock outside of brand new Firestone Destination A/T2s that I bumped up to 265/75/16. That weekend looks good on my calendar, but I have to check with my activities coordinator (wife).

That's perfect! My skill level is probably similar. :D

Seriously, though, I'm pretty new to this stuff as well. I just take it slow and back out when things look sketchy.
