As someone said above dealers tend to overinflated tires. Check your tire pressure and set it to the pressure on the door sill label. My truck bounced all around on rough roads and steering tended to wander, after dealer service. Got home and found it at 37psi, set all to 32 psi and it’s back to normal, no shaking or bouncing and stable steering.

When i picked up my truck i had a 160 mile ride home which i noticed the truck to be very bouncy. I checked the tire pressure the next morning when the tires were cold...36 lbs. I dropped them to what the pressure inside the door said....i think it was around 32. Night and day better.
Later on my 1st toyota care visit the dealer informed me my right front tire was slightly out of toe so they realigned it. I never had any indication it was out other that hearing it from the dealer.

The dealership I bought mine from set mine to 40psi. Rode like complete crap until I clued into the tire pressure. Mine calls for 29psi so that is a big difference.

I'd check the balance in your front wheels. I had my rears balanced in the first month of owning the truck. Lost a couple wheel weights. $22 and my local shop had me riding smooth in 30 minutes.

Update: Took the truck into Les Schwab for a road force balance. Front tires were out of spec enough that they moved them to the rear. I could go back to the dealer service department and try to get some new tires to replace the rears since they won't balance properly and I'll get the shake back when I do a rotation. I'm pretty annoyed with this dealership though... don't want to give them any $$$.

if the tires are that out of spec it should be covered under warranty as it's a manufacturing defect.

There shouldn’t be any excessive vibration for 99% of the time. The Taco is sensitive to bad roads and will at times feel like the wheels aren’t properly balanced, but it shouldn’t be a constant.

Easily rectified - “let” the dealer come through for you.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
When I bought my truck the dealer specifically said “if you have tire problems take it back to the tire manufacturers shop for them to repair. I never had any problem with my tires, though. Good luck!

I had a 2020 TRD OR long bed that vibrated so bad I wound up selling it because I they couldn't resolve it and I couldn't stand driving the truck. The worst part, if I had done a more thorough test drive, I probably would have noticed it before buying, but like a lot of Tacoma buyers, I got caught up with all the hype surrounding the Tacoma and didn't evaluate it as well as I should have and that's on me. There is no doubt that the Tacoma is over-hyped by sycophants and fan boys, which I realized after experiencing the flaws of this truck that the fan boys never talk about. Now I'm wondering if the issue was the tires all along.

Anyway, fast forward 3 yrs and I'm actually considering buying the same damn truck again because none of the other midsize truck offers a long bed with the features I want. I test drove the Frontier SV long bed and I absolutely love the way that truck drives, but it lacks too many features for the price. It is a bit cheaper than the Tacoma, but it's missing a ton of basic features like LED headlights, heated seats, sunroof, etc.

Am I an idiot for buying the same truck twice?

The tire warranty is a separate document from the vehicle warranty.

I dont think the dealer needs involvement, just an authorized vendor for the brand tire.

Moving them to the back does nothing but isolate you a bit.

If you rotate your tires as you should you will have the front end shake all over again.

I'd try to skip the dealer on this one. Try opening a warranty claim with a tire shop instead. They deal with this all the time.

You do want to deal with this though... I'll reiterate that the problem isn't solved it's just been moved.

Toyota did not make the tires. This can happen with any new tire purchase anywhere. It is what it is.

But they should still be responsible if in warranty...its their new truck their on. When toyota specs those tires, they accept the warranty for them. I'm sure toyota doesn't make other components on their trucks, but has to warranty them. I once got a bad set of tires that couldn't be balanced from this tire shop, after going back 3 times. They agreed to replace them at no charge, even after 2 months of use.

Sometimes it's a characteristic of the truck.

Theres a few roads near my dealer that makes tacos and tundras shake, no matter what tire or wheel. It's just a truck.

You should have a tire warranty pamphlet in the truck. I would read thru it.

On my 2008 Tacoma the Factory Rugged Fails Tires started getting weird cracks thru the tread at around 7500 miles, the Toyota Dealer replaced all 5 tires with much better ones no questions asked.

No. New-car tires are not covered by the vehicle's basic warranty. Instead, the warranty comes from the tire maker. You could hit a curb or whatever. Optional insurance is available for tires when purchased.
