    On TVs with an analogue tuner (knobs) you could turn the fine tuning all the way one way and get the picture, all the way the other way and get the sound.

    If the premium cable channel happened to be VHF 6 a jumper to the antenna terminals of an again analogue FM radio tuned to the very bottom of the band, 87.7 MHz, would (almost magically) receive perfect VHF 6 audio.
