    Hey folks,

Apologies for being way off topic here but not sure who to ask or where to go.

I need to ship a Honda Civic (I prefer enclosed) from the LA area to the Indianapolis area in about a month. I haven't done this a while so my old contacts are no longer around.

I used to use DAS but they are not here any more. They always delivered, operated their own equipment, and allowed terminal drop off and pick up to save some money.

Now it seems like everyone is a broker. I have had bad experiences with brokers, or really the carriers they select. Hit or miss actually. And the cars were on and off several trucks and one time driven 60 miles. I would like to avoid all of that and of course get a great deal!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Not for the LA area, but be prepared to pay $$$ with diesel prices what they are.

yes Reliable is great. I used them before to get a car to Barrett Jackson. Prices are out of the budget though for a college student car.

Might be cheaper just to road trip it if you've got the time!

Thinking about it! But time is short these days! 1000 miles is one thing, 2000 miles is another!

Honestly for a young kid 2000 miles sounds doable in a three night trip.

For context I regularly drive from Denver to Vegas which is around 750 and change in half a day easily. These days that usually includes more frequent piss breaks and sketchy lunch from a questionable Subway at a Love's truck stop in middle of nowhere, Utah. When I was a young buck I would have done that trip cannonball style hopped up on energy drinks in 10 hours tops.

I drove from Texas to Massachusetts in my early 20’s in 2 days in a 4 cyl Wrangler cause I didn’t have money for a motel room. Ah to be young…..

LOL I agree...for him. Trouble is mom doesnt want him to do it alone. We are divorced and don't want to expand on these dynamics on a public forum.

But yes in the 90s I did drives like that a couple of times.

I dont recall energy drinks but I do remember Mountain Dew, Redbull, and Funyons.

Three nights is more than enough for a young kid. My wife and I did eastern MA to Austin , TX with only two overnights. It was a grind, especially the 14 hour day where a combination of weather and a highway closure (with no warning) had us driving at either 30MPH or sitting for over an hour. On the way back, we did three overnights which was much easier.

The worst part of that trip had to be eating at a Cracker Barrel!

It's a tasty treat, but not from them. I think the only thing that they do really well is breakfast, but how hard is it to cook eggs, bacon, home fries, and toast?
