Just received official word we are moving from NW Arkansas to Culpeper area. Work start date is Sept 1, so we are scrambling to find a farmhouse/guesthouse-type rental while we look for a permanent property. If any of y’all NOVAs have any ideas for fellow Taco brethren, I’d be grateful.

Welcome! Culpeper has some pretty good restaurants in town. AirBnB has some options for monthly rentals if you are thinking short term.

Yeah it's kind of hidden now and some look pretty expensive but it looks like there are a couple options nearby.

We did the tubeless mortar during college "end days" between end of exams and graduation...at least we did it in the gravel parking lot adjacent one of our buddy's campus owned house.

We definitely didn't leave the box of additional fireworks laying around, but can attest those flying colored fireballs are clipping along pretty fast...especially within a few feet of your head!!

Wonder how the insurance claim for the car will work out:crapstorm:

Looks like the area around Culpeper is devoid of GMRS and 2m/70cm ham repeaters. Guess I'll have to put one up when I get there!

Question/ favor. My nephew just moved to Harrisonburg with his wife. He has to drive to near Montreal end of the month and wants to get his 2011 Volvo something pre trip inspected. He's trying to avoid a dealership due to cost (both students). Anyone know enough about these that might be able to look at it or recommend a place near them? He has no concerns about it, just wants to make sure it's good for the trip.

I do most of my own work on my Volvo fleet, but whenever I get stumped or don't want to do a job I always go to Mark @
    Swedish Import Services Inc
    (703) 591-2264
    https://maps.app.goo.gl/XpmGadfmabhfudHY7

I realize that he's not close, but if they find themselves in the area he really is one of the best mechanics I've ever found.

Do you know the model/mileage of the car? Most Volvos are pretty* reliable as long as you keep-up with oil changes. Their PCV systems really don't like old oil.

I wish them a safe trip.

My Wife leaves Tuesday to head up to Canada for a week. She was gonna drive, till the cost of flying was cheaper than gas. Granted she has family up there to pick her up and move her around.

I don't know that they can afford the flight, and they've gotten used to driving longer distances. He's going solo for a music conference / mentorship.

I didn't know he had it. Looks clean, and he appears to be taking care of it.

Wish I could offer some advice but I don't know too much about the P1s. From what I know they seem to be fairly straightforward -i.e. keep up with oil changes and do the required maintenance items at 100k (timing belt, water pump, etc).
