1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Believe it or not, a cheap set from Amazon.

My requirements were - slim, dimmable, and customizable.

What's nice is they offer the light kit with either black or white wiring, and either in a 3k shade (more natural) and a much whiter shade.



You can plug them in or wire them in. Wiring was something I considered, but to tap into the existing outlets I used, it would've required some drilling, etc. Could've even swapped the outlets to smart outlets, but I went a different route.

I used the plug-in option, and was able to hide the outlets for the most part. What's really nice is, because of how slim the whole setup is, you can't see any wiring or lights at all. Even sitting on the couch at a much lower level, if you look over at the cabinets, the wiring and lights are still concealed.

Here's when I added the coffee bar lighting.



Best of all, I implemented the "smart" feature by getting some Defiant smart plugs on sale at Home Depot. So now anytime Steph wants to turn on the lights we can use our phone, or just say "Hey Google, turn on Kitchen Lights."

Can also use "...coffee bar" or "coffee bar lights" or "all lights" as we also have the living room with smart lights.

How many extensions do you get in the kit. I have a cabinet set that's connected but separated by a few vertical stretches

I know I didn't use all of them so if you buy a set, I'd be happy to send you my extras.

Did forget to mention but, the extensions were "reasonably" long enough to use to run the wiring over the range. I'm only running 2 kits; the one I pictured for the entire right wall and a small single 12" light for the coffee bar.

 

Did I ever mention how I hate painting trim and baseboards?

Just about done with the hallway reno I started 7 months ago though...Time flies when you keep saying you'll get to it next week.

Maybe it's my catholic guilt but I do feel bad about picking them up lol. My first thought was that it was a prank and I almost ignored it.

I'll keep an eye on the few community social pages I follow and if anyone claims to have lost it I'll give it back. There's a Chase Bank just up the block and if someone needed that money for rent or something I'll feel like an asshole keeping it

 

If it was a big sum (thousands) I'd turn that shit in cause I don't need the cartel trying to track me down

Nice thing to pay forward, some sandwiches for the homeless or what not. My dad does that sometimes, takes a few hundred to the grocery store and comes back with materials and makes a ton of sandwiches to hand out in Seattle. Then again where you are 200 is probably not enough to make more than like five or six sandwiches and it might put a quarter tank of gas in your truck

 

Its not a true simulator without the smell of animal shit.

Sometimes the wind blows at the right direction and wafts the stench from the goat farm down the road up to my place. Ive gotten used to it, my guests seem to think I busted a sewer line when it happens.
