Yeeee especially for old/oddball stuff. Tire worthy of being a spare? Nobody wanted it when it was free but I bumped the price to $25 and 3 people messaged me that afternoon and it was gone.

When I lived in east Denver I put unwanted furniture on the curb and it didn't go within a day or two so I put a $20 sign and someone "stole" it almost immediately

It's hilarious and 100% true.
I think subconsciously people are suspicious of something that's free but a limited time steal of a deal is something you just can't pass up.

*Also it's ok to admit you lived in Saudi Aurora. I'm sure the stink has washed off by now.

 

I browse the free section of CL but if something good has been listed for more than a few hours I usually assume it's gone already. If it's for sale I'm more willing to take the time to email.

But yeah, if I ever put something up for free it's "here's directions to where it's sitting on the curb, help yourself."

Yeah, I usually look at stuff the same way. I did pick up a pair of new aftermarket fenders for free recently though, the ad was old but had just been bumped. Surprised a scrap collector hadn't grabbed them before me.
